Shardcake is now Shard! Yes, I dropped the "cake". As I left Devsisters in August, I forked the project and gave it a second life and a new home: ghostdogpr.github.io/shard/
I just released a first RC with a new typed API, the ability to use Protobuf instead of Kryo, and a lot more!

🥁#Scala lovers, version 0.3.0 is here, and it's huge 💪. A ton of bugs fixed, a lot of new contributors, and...the automatic derivation of a CRUD API 🚀 Just derive `Api`, `Table`, and you'll have a complete REST service storing data in Postgres 😱

Check out the new version of @eezoframework. You're just 1 minute away from a complete service with REST APIs and Postgres persistence 🙌

It's been an honor to be invited to write the foreword for the 6th edition of "Programming in Scala" by @odersky, Lex Spoon, @bvenners, and Frank Sommers - updated to cover everything up to the latest #Scala 3.9 LTS.
Why learn Scala? You'll come across Object-Oriented, Functional, Type-Level Programming, their interactions, and more; it covers a lot of ground using a single language. And do books still make sense in the AI age? You'll have to get a copy to find out more ;)

Does the SPA / backend split still make sense in the age of AI? It made little sense to me before for most business applications, only maybe developer specialization. But if Claude generates the code isn't using a fullstack setup like Spring Boot / Thymeleaf a lot more efficient?

This week at @scaladays, we presented our new framework, called eezo 🐲. In #EEZO, the models are case classes, and through #Scala 3 derivation machinery, you can easily get CRUD routes over HTTP and persistence in a Postgres table. The example below mounts 7 routes in a Jetty HTTP server and creates the `book` table.
Web development made eezy again ♥️

The scale of this is staggering.
But... Why?
Why is OpenAI trying to solve hundreds of math problems to be released all at once? I think we got the point when they found a counterexample to Navier-Stokes -- internal model = great.
I am not sure at this point what this (hostile?) takeover of the mathematical landscape is trying to achieve other than, again, a massive PR stunt.
We’re releasing a broad range of new mathematical results produced by an internal frontier model.
We’ve been consulting with the independent Advisory Group on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence at the Institute for Advanced Study, and we have drawn on their advice and public recommendations to inform how we release these results.
