After yesterday’s historic speech to Labour Party Conference, I got a chance to sit down with the Prime Minister @andyburnham to ask a few questions about his vision for Britain.

There’s still time for Andy Burnham o come good on his promises to progressive voters who he won back from the Greens. For what it’s worth, I believe the guy when he says he wants to bring back democratic control. But the warning signs he’s gonna fold are very much there.
Ending 40 years of neoliberalism can only be delivered by radical action to facilitate wholesale change to the economy. A comment from Mainstream's Interim Council on the Government's Budget.

Today, we released the 100th episode of Slow News Day. Thanks to everyone who’s watched! Here’s, hopefully, to 100 more!

I love the cascade of pre-budget news stories in which every industry calls for more support/fewer taxes on their specific thing. "John Healey Must End Pocket Watch Tax says Stage Hypnotists Union"

Currently really loving Pilili, the official mascot of Brazil's election authority. It looks like the election machines used in Brazil (where elections are 100% digital) and is named after the sound the machines make when you submit your vote. We need Barry the Ballot Paper.

One problem (of many) with Palantir is that they want to both pitch for government defence contracts and also be weird internet edgelords. This on its own is enough of a reason to not think they’re fit people to run government services.

I interviewed the Secretary of State, Miatta Fahnbulleh, and we spoke about Jackdaw/Rosebank a month or so ago, and it seemed pretty clear then the government were likely to approve at least one of the North Sea fields. youtube.com/watch?v=WpJ1vx1Y…

I would presume they're monitoring the response to gauge whether or not to go ahead with Rosebank.

Feels hard to write about the Amol Rajan show without it coming across as being mean, because just over 400 views in 4 hours must be absolutely devastating.

(Another caveat is that I haven't really watched much of either episode, because, despite being interested in the launch, neither guest ended up particularly appealing.)

More broadly, I think there will be a lot of legacy media figures who will be having second thoughts about making the leap to YouTube and similar after this and the launch of Holly Willoughby's show.

Physical second-hand embarrassment hit my body watching this. Absolutely dire.

Ali G and Borat both met the moment in which they were released perfectly. This is a character created for 2017 talking about a character created for 2002.
