They said African languages were too fragmented, too complex and too commercially insignificant to build advanced AI for.
We disagreed. So we built it.
64 languages. 166 voices. 3 billion parameters. ONE model.
Today, we are unveiling STORM-Ensemble 3.0, the most capable multilingual speech synthesis model we have built at PlotWeaver.
From Yorùbá, Igbo, Hausa and Nigerian Pidgin to Swahili, Amharic, Wolof, Zulu, Xhosa and dozens more, STORM-Ensemble 3.0 generates speech across 64 languages, with 166 distinct speaker voices.
Every voice you hear is generated by our model, not a prerecorded sample.
But the real breakthrough isn't the numbers.
It's what becomes possible when this technology is in the hands of people who can build with it.
-African filmmakers distributing stories across languages.
-Banks and telcos serving customers in their mother tongues.
-Education platforms reaching more children.
-Developers building voice AI products without starting from scratch.
We are not building AI for African languages simply to prove it can be done. We are building the infrastructure to make our languages commercially viable at global scale.
Next week, I will be speaking at the Commonwealth Business Forum in Antigua about unlocking the Commonwealth's creative potential. This launch is a practical demonstration of that ambition.
Africa must not simply consume the future of AI. We must build, own and shape the infrastructure that powers it.
Watch the video. Listen to the voices. Imagine what's possible.
Introducing STORM-Ensemble 3.0.

Earlier this year, some design friends and I ran a design sprint and created some really exciting projects. I'll be posting the visuals and the design thinking behind each project.
Stay tuned!

Try out @getKulawise app (although it’s for wellness businesses) & offer any feedback you think could improve it.

The dms would be full of noise atm. So I’ll just throw it to the wind of the media.
@getkulawise is building the operating system for wellness businesses, helping fitness coaches, gyms, and wellness creators manage communities, run challenges, collect payments, and monetize their audiences in one place. We’re expanding into a consumer wellness marketplace where users can discover and pay for wellness products and services, creating opportunities for transaction-based revenue alongside business subscriptions. Given your fintech background, I’d love to explore how we can build the financial infrastructure that powers this growing wellness economy across Africa.

The job market is so cooked
A tech founder friend of mine passed away a couple of years ago in a bike accident. Left a wife and 3 kids.
One of them's super into Fortnite and I told his widow if her lad ever wants to talk games when he gets older, she could always put him in touch.
Dunno if anyone knows someone at Epic Games but...?
If anyone in my network is looking for an early career design engineer, take a look at Ola's work!

Thank you, Karl.
I am open to design engineer assignments and full-time positions.
Please reach out if you require someone for either.
