A spontaneous partnership formed when Andrew Cary and Torie Gladwell were bidding on the same mare at the Keeneland November Sale.
Four years later Bacio, the foal the mare was carrying at the time, is taking a close-knit group of breeders to their first Breeders' Cup.
TDN’s @BreedersCup Connections series continues with the breeders of BACIO 🤩 youtu.be/WiKHmElwizQ?is=eni0…

For a group of small breeders, Bacio’s rise to a Royal Ascot victory, a Group 1 win and a trip to the Breeders’ Cup is more than they ever could have imagined. For Valerie Dailey, it’s the first Grade 1 winner of a 40-plus-year breeding career. While for Andrew Cary and Torie Gladwell, it’s the payoff of a chance partnership that began with a $75,000 mare.
Today, the friends and partners who bred him are coming together in Lexington for their first Breeders’ Cup contender. Watch the story behind their unforgettable ride on this Breeders' Cup Connections.
