What's actually under construction at Giga Texas is a $3B research fab, "a few thousand wafers a month," "really intended to try out ideas." Elon's own words, April earnings call. The full Terafab promises 70% of TSMC's entire global output from a company that has never fabricated a chip, on an Intel process that isn't finished, with zero ASML tools ordered. The only confirmed ASML contact is a fireside chat.
And every real Tesla chip, including AI5, still comes from TSMC and Samsung. Same as always.
Steel goes up in days. Lithography queues take years. The stock bombed Wednesday, and by Thursday the Cybertruck took the fall while the story got the promotion.

Elon - this is actually the problem. Most Tesla investors don't want continued promises about the future. They want Tesla to generate profitability growth. Operating income peaked back in '22 and has been on a steady decline ever since. Given similar grandiose statements have been made during that timeframe, expectations have outrun performance for a nontrivial amount of time and they're tired of it. Hope this clears things up $TSLA
