Pretending to be someone else. Any of it can get you a felony. That means up to 5 years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Landlords don’t have to wait for a court case, either. They can give the renter 7 days to move out. There’s no chance to fix it. A big apartment group pushed for this law. They say Florida had more rental fraud than any other state. Every lawmaker voted yes. It passed 110-0 in the House and 34-0 in the Senate. Governor DeSantis signed it in June.
