I’ve always said the 2021 SF loss was largely on Dak. No issue admitting that. But did that top-5 defense look anything like one against Green Bay in 2023? What about the top-6 defense in 2018 that let a hobbled Todd Gurley and the Rams run all over them? Or the top-5 defense in 2016? How’d that unit perform against Green Bay? You can’t just point to regular-season rankings and say, “See, Dak had a top-5 defense!” Okay, and what happened when the playoffs started? How those defenses actually performed when it mattered is part of the conversation, whether it fits your narrative or not.
