Entrepreneurs need customers, capital, sound advice and access to people who can help them grow. Creating opportunities for those connections is an important part of the Ideas Festival. Our LaunchPad/IdeasTank pitching contest is one of the festival’s highlights. It gives businesses that have already built something real and are trading a platform to present their work and their ambitions. This year, ten finalists pitched to a panel of judges, with delegates, partners and investors among the 128 people in the room. A total of $15 000 in prize money was on the table. A pitch is an opportunity to explain the problem your business solves, demonstrate progress and make a compelling case for its future. For those listening, it is an invitation to recognise potential and consider how they might contribute. The results will be announced at this morning’s closing session. Thank you to our finalists, judges, partners and delegates for making this such a valuable part of the festival. Backing people who are building businesses is practical nation-building. 📅 Our next Ideas Festival takes place from 26–29 October 2027. Block your diary and join us as an entrepreneur, investor, partner or delegate. Your experience and participation could make a difference. #IdeasFestival2026 #Entrepreneurship #IdeasFestival2027

She started as a backing vocalist in Mbeu's Mhodzi Tribe. She has since headlined the HICC, built a fashion label and opened a restaurant. So what's next for Feli Nandi? That's this week's Woza cover story, and it's out now. Also in the Friday drop: fashion and style, the best places to wine and dine, arts, culture, books, music and sport. And Woza's Top 10 events for the weekend, ranked by scale, originality and value for money. The ranking matters. A guide that recommends everything recommends nothing. Your time and money deserve a judgement, not a listing. So we put one event above another and tell you why. Woza is Zimbabwe's definitive guide to the weekend and cultivated living. Nick Vingirai received a spontaneous standing ovation after his "Built, Lost, Rebuilt" presentation at the Ideas Festival. He told us how he built a business, lost it, and is rebuilding again. No polish. No spin. Just the truth of it. They teach you to build but not to bleed. Resilience is tears that keep praying. Belief is not denial but it is defiance. Patience is working while you wait. When you rebuild, you rebuild with the memory of the pain. Rebuilding will make you weep and shout at the same time. It takes more courage to tell the story of a loss than the story of a win. Thank you, Nick. The Festival closes tomorrow. Follow proceedings virtually: convowithtrevor.com/ideas-fe… All presentations go behind a paywall after the Festival. #IdeasFestival2026
