I think what sets Wildwood apart from any other stop-motion animated film I’ve ever seen— aside from the sheer scale of production— is the cinematography. It’s incredible they just decided to film this like a live-action feature film.

The stop-motion animation work behind LAIKA’s WILDWOOD (2026) is absolutely insane.
136 handcrafted sets, over 200 practical puppets and 49 animators working across 231 weeks, with some shots producing just 1–4 seconds of animation per week.

"Wildwood" took nearly 15 years to make, with 231 puppets and 136 sets, making it the longest stop motion film ever made.

People are calling Prue ug*y because she doesn’t look like the caricature of a teenage girl they’re used to seeing in film.
I personally find her character design to be a reflection of her forlorn temperament, that’s to say, it’s deeply human, as is the entirety of #Wildwood.

Their design was CRAZY GOOD. Like i have a friend whose parents are exactly like this and it was so refreshint to see. So much personality and heart in these designs

It’s been so long since I’ve seen such a well-written antagonist. Alexandra wasn’t treated as a mere victim of her circumstances nor were her actions romanticized; instead, she was portrayed as grief-stricken & vengeful, unwilling to accept the reality of losing her entire world.
