This trial has done nothing but demonstrate that damaging myths continue to be weaponised by the judiciary.
Russell Brand’s lawyer said in his closing statement that none of the complainants “resisted or screamed or even tried to leave”.
He also said that the fifth woman, who alleged she had been anally raped, “didn’t roll over, or kick out, or try to stop him in any way from penetrating her anus”.
I've heard many survivors say that they froze.

I was sexually assaulted as a child, and the most terrifying thing was that I went into a state of involuntary paralysis. I wanted to shout for help, but no sound would come out of my mouth, and I couldn't move.
It's called tonic immobility, and it was absolutely terrifying.
