DeSantis is an intellectual who is also a very strong leader, reminiscent of our Founders. It’s a rare combination that makes for great terms in office, but doesn’t necessarily translate to media. Let’s be clear-eyed about that.
Goal one (at DeSantis’s level) is to raise the funds for hiring the most aggressive and effective media team in the business. He is not made for the social media age, but some well-produced DeSantis thug life videos can go a long way. The modern electorate requires entertainment, sad as that may be. We must do that while educating the public about the policies that uniparty statists seek to implement.

Dear Floridians in the path of the storm tonight, Many of us in the state have been right where you are today. Many of you have done this before, several times.. But for those who may be new to the area.. this will be a highly stressful, and anxious experience.
Afterdark landfalls are just the worst, you hear the wind howling, see the rain.. here things bumping in the dark, it plays on your emotions, you are certain things will be far worse in the morning than they really are.
A few things to give you hope tonight while you ride out the storm.. at home or at a shelter. The dawn will come.. and with it will ride the fullweight of the greatest state in America. Staged all over north Florida right now, this very second.. are thousands of Electrical linesmen with their trucks.. from many states, and from every co-op in Florida. Tree removal trucks by the hundreds! The Florida National Guard and the Florida State Guard.. all just waiting until the winds slow enough to get on the road.
Volunteer groups from around the state, churches packing trailers with supplies to deliver to you.. and of course, the seemingly endless convoy of #Publix Trucks headed your way.
@GovRonDeSantis is STILL Governor, and we all know he will take charge and fix what needs fixing. FDOT can put up a bridge in a week..
You have always sent your people to help us around the state when we needed help, it is simply our turn to return the favor.

I know this was a sarcastic response, but what exactly do you want us to do?
Take “go back to work” out of the equation, because “young” people can’t find jobs that pay worth a damn. So who is going to hire the elderly to work en masse?
There is zero time for an entire generation to prepare for retirement—either voluntarily or, for far too many, because they’re forced into it by rampant, unchecked ageism—without Social Security. They are experiencing the same inflation and rising cost of living that you are.
Just like the tired trope of the irresponsible student loan borrower who majored in basket weaving at an Ivy League school, the idea that all Boomers and early Gen Xers are sitting on piles of wealth while greedily expecting Social Security is simply false.
Yes, Boomers were able to participate in an economy that is no longer available to most of us. And we can resent that. We can even resent their refusal to acknowledge the shitty economic environment younger generations are experiencing.
But be angry at our elected representatives who choose to send taxpayer dollars abroad before making sure their own citizens are provided for. Be angry at the architects of “globalization” for destabilizing our once-industrialized nation.
Watching this topic balloon over the last few days, it seems increasingly clear that this is yet another subject being deliberately used to divide us. And, once again, we’re taking the bait.
