Hearing these families talk about their lost loved ones reminds me why I have dedicated my life to public service. I pray for these families and all of the families that we don’t hear about that have tragically lost loved ones to illegal aliens.
Illegal immigrants have killed Americans. These stories are heartbreaking.
I was honored to talk to 16 Angel Family members during our very first round table hosted by VOICE Executive Director @angeldadjoe. Our guests provided invaluable insight that will help our VOICE Office better support victims of heinous crimes committed by illegal aliens.
THOUSANDS of people across our country have lost loved ones or have been victimized by violent criminal aliens. The VOICE Office's victim-centered approach prioritizes them through the Angel Families Project and offers services, including:
• Help accessing information about perpetrators' criminal and immigration history
• Automated notifications of perpetrators' custody status
• Referrals to resources and services nationwide
• Assistance submitting a Victim Impact Statement

Twenty-five years after September 11, we pause to remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the heroes who ran toward danger.
At DCA, I was honored to join TSA Administrator David Cummins and @TSA’s workforce whose mission was forged in the aftermath of 9/11. Their service reflects the best of @DHSgov: vigilance, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to protecting the American people.
The mission continues. Never again.

A great time with the Tampa Homeland Security Task Force!
This week in Tampa, I visited one of our dedicated Homeland Security Task Force teams who are working tirelessly to keep Florida communities safe from cartels and transnational criminal networks.
Across Florida, their relentless efforts have led to 389 active investigations, resulting in 481 arrests and 192 convictions. The HSTF team has taken over 56,000 kg of cocaine, 1,719 kg of meth, and 108 kg of fentanyl off our streets, while seizing nearly $38 million in illicit cash and cryptocurrency.
@DHSGov and @HSI_HQ will continue to disrupt these criminal networks and protect our neighborhoods. 🇺🇸 #HSTF #HomelandSecurity

Thank you South Dakota for prohibiting sanctuary policies in localities and municipalities, barring illegal aliens from receiving commercial driver’s licenses, and creating the crime of harboring or concealing an illegal alien.
These actions reinforce the rule of law, support state and federal cooperation, and help keep our communities safe.
I was honored to address South Dakota leaders on the importance of the 287(g) program, border security, immigration enforcement, and @FEMA’s ongoing work in the state.
@FEMA continues to support South Dakota communities, approving more than $5.3 million in mitigation funds so far in August 2026, including $733,613 for disaster mitigation projects in Codington, Clark, Brown, Marshall, Custer, and Bennett Counties.

Incredible operation at the San Ysidro Port of Entry with @CBP Office of Field Operations, the busiest land port in the Western Hemisphere.
At San Ysidro, CBP processed more than 31.5 million travelers and 15 million vehicles in the last year, including more than 6.4 million through dedicated commuter lanes. Spanning approximately 52 acres and processing roughly 100,000 people daily, San Ysidro is a critical front line for homeland security.
Over the last year, @CBP intercepted more than 22,000 pounds of illicit narcotics at San Ysidro while keeping lawful travel moving.

Drug tunnels in San Diego.
I met the team behind the San Diego Tunnel Task Force, whose collaboration during a Homeland Security Task Force investigation recently led to the discovery of a cross-border tunnel connecting the United States and Mexico.
Outstanding work by @HSISanDiego, @USBPChiefsDC, and the Homeland Security Task Force. DHS and federal partners are working hand in hand to deliver results and protect our communities.
Since 2006, the San Diego Tunnel Task Force has brought federal partners together to discover 90 tunnels along the California border. These investigations have contributed to the seizure of more than 300,000 pounds of marijuana, 8,000 pounds of cocaine, 250 pounds of methamphetamine, and other dangerous narcotics.
This work is possible through strong federal coordination across #HSTF, @HSI, @CBP, @CommissionerScott, @DEAHQ, @USAO, with support from state and local partners. Together, we are strengthening border security, disrupting criminal networks, and protecting public safety.

The impact of the One Big Beautiful Bill is on full display in Rio Grande Valley Sector, TX. @USBPChief is installing 536 Big Beautiful miles of waterborne barriers in the Rio Grande River. These stop drugs and illegal crossings — keeping our country safe. This is just one tool we have to keep dangerous criminals and illicit narcotics out of the U.S.

This type of partnership keeps communities on both sides of the border safe.
Participated in mirrored patrol operations with Mexican law enforcement and military at the border in the San Diego Sector, each within our nation’s jurisdiction. This cross-border collaboration strengthens communication, situational awareness, officer safety, and efforts to disrupt transnational criminal activity.
I want to thank our Government of Mexico counterparts in Tijuana for their continued partnership.
@DHSGov and @USBPChiefsDC work with @FGRMexico, @Defensamx1, @GN_Mexico_, and @INAMI_mx, in coordination with @SecMullinDHS, @USAmbMex and @CBPCommissioner, to maintain regional security and combat transnational criminal organizations.

I remember coming to a similar meeting at the @WhitHouse as the Mayor of @CityOfLosAl in 2018. Especially when many cities were trying to navigate California’s terrible SB54 Sanctuary Law that forbids any cities and county law enforcement from working with the Federal Government.
Discussed homeland security initiatives at the Idaho State Leadership Conference this week. State partners, like Idaho, are essential for advancing DHS immigration priorities like 287g.
Idaho law enforcement partners are removing criminals from the street and getting reimbursed by @DHS to do it.

Great meeting with Deputy Minister Tricia Geddes @Safety_Canada and Deputy Minister Ted Gallivan @CitImmCanada. Our talks focused on advancing northern border priorities to combat cross-border crime and prevent illegal migration. These efforts build on more than 125 joint firearms seizures last year and new technology pilots by @DHSgov, @ICEgov, @CBP, and @CanEmbUSA to improve border surveillance. Under @POTUS’s leadership, the United States remains committed to having the most secure borders in history.
