Nobody is choosing MAiD as an option based on poverty, isolation and/or homelessness.
You know this, but you’d rather sew seeds of fear to push your political agenda.
If you had a solid argument, you wouldn’t need to mislead in order to justify your position.

Every human life has dignity, especially in moments of vulnerability.
Compassion means caring for people, supporting recovery, relieving suffering, and ensuring that no one feels abandoned when they are at their most vulnerable.
When people see death as the answer to social conditions such as poverty, homelessness or isolation, we should ask whether we have failed to provide the care and support they need to live with dignity.
As the Pope warns, we must not allow legalized death to become a substitute for compassion.
I precisely point to the troubling data on 'nature of suffering' that is associated with MAID requests as red flags. 44% of track 2: isolation or loneliness is a key component of their 'intolerable suffering'; both tracks "burden on others" at around 50%
And show me one case … just one … where the MAiD program was used to end someone’s life exclusively because they were lonely and/or isolated. It just doesn’t happen.
You overly confidently ignore intersectionality. Of course the form will have a chronic illness as the official justification.
Exactly. This is entirely about terminal illness.
There isn’t a person in the country who is experiencing isolation, homelessness or loneliness who can walk off the street and request to end their life. That’s NOT how MAID works.
Chronic illness is not terminal illness. There is no terminal illness requirement in Canada's MAID law . No requirement under track 1, definitely nothing close to it for track 2. Canadian MAID providers publicly expressed concern about people getting MAID w treatable cancers.
I am baffled how Canadians are ill-informed about MAID law and its practice. It is hard to ignore that some people are getting MAID who if properly supported would continue to live. While we can discuss how serious that is, the denial of its existence troubles me
At the same time, MAID assessments are available on average in two days time in Ontario. What social justice respecting society prioritizes access to MAID over proper placement and support for elderly?

I can call a toll free number in NS first thing in the AM and be approved for #MAiD by lunchtime Thursday.
I just made an appointment with my pain specialist for February.
Make it make sense!
