The Final Piece of the Puzzle Arrives at RAAF Base Edinburgh!
NASA's iconic WB-57F Canberra, N926NA (NASA926), touched down at RAAF Base Edinburgh (YPED) this afternoon, marking a significant visit by one of the world's most distinctive high-altitude research aircraft.
Its arrival follows yesterday's appearance of two U.S. Missile Defense Agency Gulfstream G550s, N551HA (HALO51) and N553HA (HALO53), completing a notable series of arrivals ahead of specialised flight-testing activities in South Australia.

Two U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Gulfstream G550 aircraft, N551HA (HALO51) and N553HA (HALO53), arrived at RAAF Base Edinburgh (YPED), South Australia, this afternoon following their flight from Honolulu.
Both aircraft are expected to remain in South Australia for approximately two weeks, supporting specialised flight test and missile defence activities.
Notably, this deployment marks the first visit to Australia for N553HA (HALO53).
The arrivals are believed to be part of a broader deployment, with a NASA WB-57 high-altitude research aircraft expected to arrive at RAAF Base Edinburgh tomorrow, 31 October.
The WB-57's arrival is also expected to mark its first visit to Australia in a specialised flight-testing capacity, bringing its unique high-altitude research and testing capabilities to the region.
An interesting few weeks ahead for military and specialised aviation activity in South Australia.

Confirmed.
Flightradar24 has obfuscated all US military bases, while Apple Maps one of the map providers has obfuscated them when zoomed out, but forgot to apply the obfuscation at all zoom levels.
In a minor twist, the WB-57 has departed Guam for Darwin, but the support GLF5 is returning to Hawaii. I assume there's a ground crew already in place for the jet in Australia and the GLF5 was to help make sure the Canberra successfully crossed the pond.

Another something you REALLY don't see every day...the X-59 research aircraft on the runway at KNFW. My image.

As you may have noticed, NASA is my first love when it comes to aviation, and that will always be true. So catching the X-59 QueSST at NAS JRB Fort Worth today is something extremely special. This is my first time catching an X-plane!
The X-59 is an experimental aircraft developed by Lockheed Martin Skunk Works for NASA to test quiet sonic booms. It completed its first flight on October 28, 2025, making today the one-year anniversary of its first flight. How fitting to catch it on such a special day!

Please enjoy this amazing takeoff of Jared Isaacman's MiG-29 piloted by the amazing Todd "Leif" Ericson from KPVW this morning courtesy of Adrien Martinez with his permission (his was way better than mine but he isn't on X).
This was a dream experience for me and both the airport staff and the pilot were incredibly kind and accommodating to everyone!

As promised, here's photos from today! Thanks to the crews of HMLA-369, I had the fantastic opportunity to see their aircraft depart from the ramp at KPRC today!
It's one thing to be able to capture the aircraft, another to capture the people who operate them too!
