A Bitcoin passphrase can be easy for an attacker to guess and a nightmare for its owner to recover. That is a terrible trade. I filmed my approach: physical dice, the @EFF wordlist, fixed formatting, @SeedSigner, @SparrowWallet, @MicroSeed_io and a proper recovery drill.
"The old fashioned way when you used to sign a check, take it out, people never see the money anymore, I've always felt it was a little bit dangerous"
Did Trump just make a Presidential-level argument in favour of self-custody?
$6.3bn and counting...
Binance's initial investigation suggests that the security incident may involve a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop, which allowed an attacker to gain access to a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. We have found no evidence of any wallet private key leak. We will share a detailed technical post-mortem once the investigation is complete and the facts are fully verified.
The estimated total impact sits at around $6.3B. We have worked with blockchain partners to freeze affected assets, with ~$3 billion frozen on-chain so far.
Binance will cover all losses from the SAFU fund and the company’s funds. User funds are safe. We will also publish an updated Proof of Reserves once the remediation is complete.
As an immediate precaution, Binance has:
- temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while security checks are completed;
- revoked the affected address authorisation;
- engaged law enforcement and blockchain intelligence partners to trace and recover funds.
Our teams are working around the clock to resolve this issue safely and thoroughly. We are working closely with our law enforcement partners to confirm the identity of these criminals and bring them to justice.
Please rely only on official Binance channels for updates. Please feel free to contact Binance Customer Support if you have any further questions.

The world's largest exchange is facing what could become the biggest hack in Bitcoin history. @binance promises to cover the losses, but customers can't withdraw their own funds. I've just recorded my reaction to this extraordinary situation and what it reveals about Bitcoin ownership. WATCH 👇

Not your keys, not your coins. Withdrawals frozen.
We are working non-stop to resolve this issue. Binance will cover all losses.
As a precaution, all deposits and withdrawals are temporarily suspended while our team conducts security checks, freezes funds, and works with law enforcement.
We are working around the clock and will share a full post-mortem once the investigation is complete. Please rely only on official Binance channels for updates.
This is an industry-wide effort, and we are grateful to partners across the ecosystem who have moved quickly to help freeze affected assets.
We will continue to share verified updates through official Binance channels. User funds are safe.
If your funds can be frozen, they're not your funds.
We are aware of differing figures circulating publicly regarding the amount frozen, including references to $1.8 billion.
For clarity, the current verified total frozen is $2.54 billion. This figure may continue to increase as our teams work closely with law enforcement, issuers, blockchain intelligence firms and industry partners to trace and freeze additional assets.
We will only share confirmed figures and will provide further updates as more verified information becomes available.
Foundation claimed customer details were redacted after 60 days. But copies remained in their databases. Following a breach, 5,600 mailing addresses and 5,200 phone numbers may be exposed, putting Bitcoin holders at risk of physical targeting. @FoundationHQ, what is your data retention policy now, especially for legacy customer records you wrongly believed had been deleted, and how will you prove they're erased this time?
Is she conceding here that central banking is an anti-free speech movement?
I will be leaving the @ECB in February 2027 because I want to have the freedom of speech, the freedom of expression, and the freedom to engage on matters that are not monetary policy matters.
Tether is the CBDC.
TETHER CAN DELETE YOUR BALANCE. IT'S WRITTEN INTO THE CODE.
Not freeze it. Delete it.
The USDT contract has a function called destroyBlackFunds. It has been there since the 2017 Ethereum deployment. Here is what it does, in order. It checks that your address is already blacklisted. It reads your balance into a variable the developers named "dirtyFunds". It sets your balance to zero. It subtracts that amount from total supply.
Then it logs the event. No function can reverse it. Once it runs, that balance is gone forever.
The blacklist function names the address it targets "_evilUser". That is how the code sees you before anyone has proven anything. Only Tether's owner multisig can call it, on Ethereum and on Tron.
A court can't.
A regulator can't.
When a government wants your money,
Tether is the one that executes the state's wishes.
Then comes step two.
Tether mints the same amount fresh to whoever it chooses:
a victim,
a court address,
a government address.
Net supply change is zero.
Your money just changed owners.
This is a digital 6102 on Tether.
This is why Lutnick and Bessent both love Tether.
Remember this tweet below by Bessent?
Tether can redirect the money to the US Treasury without you being able to stop it.
The DOJ described this exact process in a forfeiture case filed in Massachusetts in March 2025, over roughly $9,016,612 in USDT. They did it to Iran recently and now today you see it again.
Burn, then reissue. USDC can block a wallet but can't burn the balance.
Tether built the eraser in from the start.
They keep promising you there will be no CBDC.
But you need to know It already exists.
It runs on Tron and Ethereum, and it has an owner.
One thing doesn't.
Exit the fiat system only with that choice.
Fuck Big Banks & their partner's in Big B$tc@*n
How can you possibly make the statement 'user funds are completely safe' when it's clear by now user funds have been stolen?
Our teams are aware of reports of a potential security issue and are actively investigating. User funds are completely safe.
Our security teams are reviewing all relevant information with urgency, and we will provide updates through official Binance channels as soon as we have verified information.
Users should remain cautious of scams and should not trust unofficial links, messages, or requests for account information.
Is this the end of Binance?

Central Banking in absolute shambles!
I have just informed my colleagues that I will step down as @ECB President on 7 February 2027.
It has been a source of great pride to serve this institution.
I thank all of those who have supported me on this journey over the past seven years.

🔐Did you know you can prove you can sign for a Bitcoin address without moving a single satoshi or revealing your private keys?
I'm demonstrating exactly how using @SparrowWallet and an air-gapped @SeedSigner.
QR codes, an offline signature, and independent verification. ✅
Very useful for verifying self-custody, particularly for SMSFs.
Here's how it works👇
I've demonstrated the complete process using SeedSigner and Trezor, with independent verification in Sparrow.
