Friendly reminder that Bryce Miller is, in fact, NOT a free agent. The option was to cost-control Miller if he broke out in 2026. He did not and instead his arb number is expected to come in lower than the option, so they declined the option. That's it.

I don't know if Joe Espada would be a good or bad hire by the Mariners. I really don't know if any of the names we've collectively talked about would be good or bad. I'll say, though, that the Astros haven't been particularly well-run since their last title/firing James Click. The rosters Espada was given obviously had some big names, but were aging, poorly rounded, and accrued some significant injuries in the last couple years. Perhaps he's a mediocre or bad manager and not the right guy for the job (again: I don't know and I'm not gonna pretend to know), but I don't think his results in Houston are necessarily indicative of that.
