🧵This is the letter the UN Special Rapporteur on the rights of persons with disabilities sent Canada on February 3, 2021, voicing concerns on #BillC7, the expansion of MAID access. It can be found here as well. spcommreports.ohchr.org/TMRe…

The statements "from the Minister" are from Kamal Khera from a federal Ministry *that no longer exists in Canada.*
Khera was voted out 2025. Carney dissolved the Ministry of Disability Inclusion right after.
How poetic.

ALT “Persons with disabilities strengthen Canada's workforce. They bring immense talent, creativity, and problem-solving skills that help build inclusive and future-ready workplaces. But many still face challenges when looking for work, trying to keep a job, or progressing in their careers.” - The Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario

The 1.5 million Canadians with disabilities who can't work and are living in legislated extreme poverty at 35-69% of the MBM (not including the extra 30% it costs to live with disabilities) would love to have a conversation about getting to live with dignity.
We get #MAID.

The true disability poverty line is roughly 30% higher than the standard MBM. Provincial social assistance programs and the federal disability program pay far below even the standard poverty line, recipients are left stranded in deep, inescapable poverty.

I was receiving more from the carbon tax rebate & GST before you canceled it & rebranded GST to make it look like you're helping us when the reality is you've made life harder, especially for disabled Canadians with you purposely underfunding the Canada disability benefit
Today, the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit will land in the bank accounts of more than 12 million Canadians.
This year, a family of four will receive up to $1,890. That’s real relief to help with everyday costs.

On Oct 3, 2019 Trudeau explicitly stated that expanded #MAiD would come alongside expanded supports.
Disabled Canadians who can't work "live" on 35-69% of a poverty line that doesn't account for disability related expenses (agreed to be ~30% of the poverty line). It took...

Being offered an option isn't coercion. But what IS coercion is banning legal access to reliable and humane methods of suicide, so you have a choice of either resigning yourself to living a life that you don't want, or attempting a messy and painful DIY suicide, and potentially risking survival with permanent and severe disabilities. Also locking people up without their consent to stop them from even taking the aforementioned risk.

Jesse Brown poses a clear & present danger to the Muslim community. Luckily, Sharia law is very explicit about how to deal with threats like his. We tried talking to him but the time for debate has passed & according to Sharia law, every Muslim is duty bound to act. Inshallah.

In Canada you have to already be homeless and in deep crisis before you get selected to be helped.
Canada has a system directly putting you in that situation.
Instead of helping before rock bottom, they push you down further.
Then expect applause when they do "help"

Facts!
No where in MAID legislation for Track 1 or Track 2 does it mention "terminal illness"
It is not a qualifer by any means for MAID.
Track 1 is "death forseeable"
Track 2 is "death not forseeable"
People say that to feel better about how loose the legislation is.

Ford's scandal of the day:
David Piccini, then Ford's Minister of Labour, attended the Paris wedding of a lobbyist for Keel Digital Solutions.
Piccini then grants $7.5 million taxpayer dollars to KDS through the Skills Development Fund.
Now the Ford government is suing KDS for "defrauding the province"
➡️& KDS is going bankrupt
➡️& Ford has promoted Piccini to the Ministry of Infrastructure where he is in charge of billions of taxpayer dollars.
