On this day in 1987, Thomas Hearns made history by knocking out Juan Roldan at the Las Vegas Hilton to capture the vacant WBC middleweight title. With that win, Hearns became the first fighter in boxing history to win world titles in four different weight classes.
On this day 1988, Julio Cesar Chavez took on Jose Luis Ramirez in a lightweight unification bout at the Las Vegas Hilton.

40 years ago today Michael Spinks defeated Steffen Tangstad (TKO4) retained IBF & The Ring heavyweight titles. Also on the undercard Mike Tyson stopped Alfonso Ratliff (TKO2) Tyson would become WBC heavyweight champion 77 days later.
