Know more about some thing than anyone else in the room. You could be the one person who knows the most about the contents of a particular document, law, or case. Recognize the senior attorney may not have time to read everything in detail, but you do. 3/4

Volunteer to do the dirty work and crush it. The senior attorney will remember that. Be detail oriented. More senior attorneys don’t have time (and it is not cost effective given their billing rates) to read everything; you do. 4/4
