Today, during a Government-UN-Partners Dialogue, hosted by @MFA_Ukraine & @UN_Ukraine we shared risks & opportunities for children, young people & women in #Ukraine ahead of another challenging winter.
Together, we tackle humanitarian needs, strengthen systems & invest in people
For five consecutive days, Konotop in the Sumy region has been without electricity.
With support from @UNICEF 🇪🇺 🇩🇪, children continue to learn in this rehabilitated school shelter, equipped with battery energy storage systems to keep lessons going during power outages.
#ForEveryChild, education.

“I am 15 and I shouldn’t have to think of feeling safe as a dream.”
Katia fled #Bakhmut four years ago. Today she spends most of the day in a shelter.
Every child deserves to learn without fear of explosions.
Just 20 km from the frontline, reaching Derhachi in #Kharkiv region is becoming increasingly dangerous due to drone attacks, and delivering essential supplies is growing more difficult.
To support families living there, @UNICEF with @WFPUkraine and parnters delivered hygiene and food kits to families across 15 settlements of the community.

🇺🇦 1.2 million Ukrainian students have no access to in-person education, with over 1,880 schools damaged or destroyed.
GPE and @UNICEF_UA, with in-kind support from Microsoft and Google, are supporting @MON_UKRAINE to help children get back to learning 👇

Over 79,000 families in frontline communities in Ukraine have received UAH 19,400 each in winter cash assistance, delivered with @MinSocUA.
Of these, over 67,500 families were supported by @UNICEF, thanks to funding from 🇩🇪 @germanydiplo, 🇳🇴 @NorwayinUkraine, 🇸🇪 @SwedeninUA,🇬🇧 @UKinUkraine and the 🇺🇸Govt of the US.
As winter approaches and the situation deteriorates, this support will help families meet their most critical winter needs.
We are horrified by reports that three children, including an infant, were killed and seven children injured in an attack on a park in Nova Vodolaha, Kharkiv region, this afternoon.
Parks and playgrounds must be safe places for children. Attacks on civilian infrastructure must stop.
In Zaporizhzhia, families need essential services despite the war. With Sweden’s support, UNICEF helps children catch up on missed learning and access vital care.
A @SwedeninUA delegation visited @UNICEF-supported sites, including water and heating facilities, the children’s hospital and a school shelter where almost 500 students learn safely underground.
The toll of war on children in Ukraine keeps rising. Over the weekend, reports indicate that 6 children were killed and 11 injured.
More children killed. More families facing unimaginable loss. This violence must not become the new normal.

Grateful to our @UNICEF Regional Director, @E_Beigbeder for his visit to #Ukraine.
Our @UNICEF_UA team & partners prepare for the winter. We help repair & strengthen water, heating & power systems, support families with cash assistance & access to social services #Foreverychild
As I conclude my visit to Ukraine, from Sloviansk and Kharkiv near the frontline to Kyiv and Volyn in the west, I leave touched and inspired by the resilience of children and families, but also deeply concerned by the devastating toll this escalating war continues to take on them.
Everywhere I went, air raid sirens were a constant reminder of the dangers children face daily. In Dnipro, meeting children recovering from severe injuries sustained in attacks was particularly moving. Their suffering, and the courage they show, will stay with me.
The impact of the war is staggering. By August, child casualties in 2026 had already surpassed the total for all of 2025. And with winter approaching, intensified attacks threaten to further disrupt the water, heating, power and essential services children depend on.
Children must be protected. Schools, hospitals and vital civilian infrastructure must be spared. Sustained international support is urgently needed to help families withstand the coming winter and keep essential services running.
UNICEF will continue to stand with Ukraine’s children and families, delivering the support they need, for as long as it takes.

In Volyn today, I met young people helping shape their communities and visited services supporting children and families. Ukraine’s recovery must invest not only in infrastructure, but in children - their protection, participation and opportunities for the future.
Yesterday, @UNICEF and the Government of Ukraine brought together senior leaders, diplomats and partners to discuss how the war is affecting children and young people 🇺🇦
New findings from #MICS, the largest household survey conducted in Ukraine during the war, will inform child- and youth-centred recovery priorities and investments.

As @UNICEF Regional Director @E_Beigbeder witnessed in Chuhuiv, children across Ukraine remain determined to learn despite the realities of war.
#ForEveryChild @UNICEF_ECA @UNICEFmena
In Chuhuiv, Ukraine, I visited a UNICEF-supported underground school where around 800 children continue learning despite ongoing attacks.
These children are determined to learn and pursue their dreams.
No child should have to learn underground. Every child deserves safe, quality education and the chance to build their future.

In Chuhuiv, @E_Beigbeder saw how the Municipality, Kharkiv region & @UNICEF_UA jointly strengthen systems so children with disabilities & their families can access inclusive & integrated services close to home.
Investing in children today helps communities build a better future.
