The RESTORE Patent Rights Act would: -- Return the presumption of injunctive relief in cases where a court has ruled that a patent has been infringed. -- Make "efficient infringement" a less attractive business strategy. -- Incentivize innovation, investment, and startup activity by making patents more reliable and enforceable. We call on lawmakers to advance the RESTORE Patent Rights Act to help protect innovation by American startups and small companies. Annual patenting of inventions arising from federally supported research has increased over 70-fold since 1980! Today, universities hold about 60% of these patents, while the federal government holds just 9%. More findings from our recent report: buff.ly/TfVR3VN

A rainy New York City trip inspired Mary Anderson to invent a device now found on virtually every car: the windshield wiper. Patented in 1903, her invention is a fitting IP Month reminder that a simple idea, protected by IP, can leave a lasting mark on everyday life. Learn more: c4ip.org/inventor-spotlight-…

In recent years, legal loopholes and court decisions have left patent owners facing repetitive litigation and parallel challenges in federal court and before the USPTO’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Learn why lawmakers must protect innovation: buff.ly/VsKra9r

We urge lawmakers to reject the ETHIC Act. The bill is premised on misconceptions about how patent law works and ignores the strong safeguards already built into the patent system. There is also no clear empirical evidence of so-called "patent thickets" as a widespread problem. Learn more in our letter to the House Judiciary Committee: buff.ly/RzwBtxn

In our new amicus brief, we contend a Federal Circuit decision deprived Centripetal of due process and signals to startups and their investors that U.S. patents offer little protection against copying by dominant incumbents, further eroding investment in patent-intensive technologies. The United States' multibillion-dollar intellectual property trade surplus underscores its immense value as a strategic asset. David Kappos, C4IP co-chair and former USPTO director, explains how strong IP protections promote American innovation and drive our country's economic growth.

"Last year, Trump negotiated a deal that will require Britain to increase what it pays for new medicines by 25%. As Britain contributes more toward developing new medicines, the cost burden on the United States will decrease. The administration is also laying the groundwork for a similar agreement with Germany. In June, it launched a formal investigation into how Germany's drug price controls have harmed American commerce. This investigation will give American trade officials the leverage they need to negotiate fairer pricing policies and practices with German policymakers." Learn why we support the PREVAIL Act: buff.ly/QqqZPPm
Without reform, Big Tech will continue to exploit American inventors, and the U.S. will fall behind in global innovation. The PREVAIL act can help fix this, reforming the @USPTO’s PTAB to stop #BigTech abuse and ensuring smaller innovators can thrive. #PatentsMatter

Overall growth in venture capital investment can obscure an important trend: a declining share of funding is flowing to R&D-intensive sectors such as semiconductors, fiber optics, drug discovery, networking equipment, medical devices, biotechnology, and computer hardware. These are foundational technologies with significant implications for U.S. economic competitiveness and national security. Learn more: buff.ly/ZR9637g
