43 years later, their sacrifice is still remembered. Last week, MARCENT Marines serving in Lebanon joined Marine Embassy Security Guards to lay a wreath and 241 roses in honor of those killed in the 1983 Beirut barracks bombing. #SemperFidelis

On October 23, U.S. Embassy Beirut Marines and Embassy personnel gathered for a solemn ceremony to commemorate the 43rd anniversary of the October 23, 1983, Marine Barracks bombing in Beirut, honoring the 241 American service members who lost their lives. We read their names yet another time, laid a wreath, and stood together in silence. We honored the men and women we lost, and we promised to keep their memory alive and never forget what they gave.   Speaking at the event, Ambassador Issa said, "They came in peace”... Those words remind us why American service members were sent here as part of a multinational force at a time of conflict. And they carry a challenge that reaches beyond 1983: peace is never guaranteed. It depends on people who are prepared to protect it, and leaders willing to choose it.” #TheyCameInPeace #SemperFi 🌹🇺🇸

25 years after the September 11, 2001 attacks, the Marine Corps joins the Nation in solemn remembrance. We honor the innocent lives lost, the extraordinary courage of the first responders, and the unity that defined America in its darkest hour. The attacks shaped an entire generation of Marines who answered the call with courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment in the years that followed. We will never forget. #USMC #SemperFidelis #September11th
