USSOCOM hosted Senior Advisor to the Secretary of War for Strategy, Mr. Eric
Geressy, for a command visit with Adm. Mitch Bradley and the USSOCOM team, as well as to recognize troops for their contributions to the mission.
His visit reinforced the importance of SOF’s role in solving the nation’s most ill-defined and complex problems, from the Western Hemisphere to the Pacific.
USSOCOM gathered to remember those who lost their lives, the families whose lives were forever changed, and the courage shown in the face of tragedy.

As our forces continue to operate globally to deter adversaries and degrade and destroy terrorist networks, their courage and sacrifice continue to inspire our commitment to serve with strength, purpose, and resolve.
SOCSOUTH welcomed Eric J. Geressy, Senior Advisor to the Secretary of War for Strategy, for a command visit with Rear Adm. Brian Bennett and the SOCSOUTH team.
“My biggest priority is you all in this room. Make sure you have what you need to take the fight to the enemy,” Geressy said while engaging with SOCSOUTH service members, recognizing outstanding performers, and discussing the command’s role in advancing @DeptofWar and @Southcom priorities in the Western Hemisphere.
On September 11, we honor the lives lost 25 years ago in the face of unimaginable tragedy. We remember the first responders, firefighters, law enforcement officers, and everyday citizens who stepped forward and made the ultimate sacrifice.
Today, our Special Operations Forces stand watch across the globe, maintaining a relentless posture of readiness to degrade and destroy terrorist threats and protect our homeland.

Seventeen special operations teams from Central and South America and the Caribbean officially kicked off Fuerzas Comando 2026 during an opening ceremony in Asunción, Paraguay, Aug. 24.

17 special operations teams from throughout Central and South America and the Caribbean participate in the 20th iteration of Fuerzas Comando, the premier special operations skills competition and leadership seminar, with events held in Asunción, Paraguay, August 24-28, 2026.
Established in 2004, Fuerzas Comando is an annual multi-day event that tests participants' skills through a friendly special operations forces competition to promote interoperability and military-to-military relationships through cordial contests, increase training knowledge, and strengthen regional cooperation among partners. Concurrently, a senior leadership seminar convenes, uniting top multinational special operations leaders to address critical transnational threat networks and their significant implications for regional defense and stability.
Participants: Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and United States.

U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers trained alongside members of Peru's Comando de Inteligencia y Operaciones Especiales Conjuntas (CIOEC), the Ecuadorian Marine Corps' Grupo de Acción Rápida de la Infantería de Marina (GAHRIM), and Panama's Brigada de Fuerzas Especiales (BRIFFEE) during a helicopter-supported simulated time-sensitive target raid in Colón Province, Panama, Aug. 6, 2026. Partner forces inserted aboard a U.S. Army Task Force Bravo CH-47 Chinook, maneuvered to the objective, extracted a simulated high-value target, and coordinated the mission while integrating tactics, techniques and procedures as a combined special operations force.
PANAMAX 2026 brings together defense and public security forces from 19 participating nations to improve interoperability and strengthen collective capacity to conduct coalition and all-domain operations that help safeguard the Panama Canal and maintain regional security and stability.

The week brought together Recovery Care Coordinator training, the Gold Star Working Group Summit focused on continuity of care for survivors, and the presentation of the SOCOM Commander's Patriot Award to Jodi Burns, CEO of the Special Forces Trust, for her sustained support of the Special Forces wounded, ill, and injured community.
