U.S. Medical Product Companies: Africa's Market Is Opening! 🌍
@AU_AMA_ is now accepting medical product applications through its new Regulatory Information Management and Review (RIMR) Hub! U.S. pharmaceutical, biotechnology, vaccine, diagnostics, and medical device companies can explore streamlined pathways that leverage existing U.S. @FDA regulatory decisions to support access to African markets.
FDA's African Medicines Agency Liaison Office (AMALO) is working with AMA to advance regulatory reliance, reduce duplicative reviews, and shorten timelines to market. Be among the first to explore this opportunity!

The United States welcomes the recent meeting in Dakar between the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) and ECOWAS as a first, high-level public step toward cooperation between the two blocs. We support dialogue led by our regional partners to foster long-term stability and burden-sharing engagements in West Africa.
Strengthening U.S.-Africa agricultural trade! This week in Addis Ababa, the U.S. Department of Agriculture is bringing together regulators from 15 African countries, in partnership with the Ethiopian Agricultural Authority, to advance science-based pesticide risk assessment and regulatory alignment. By strengthening regulatory cooperation and reducing barriers to trade, we're helping expand opportunities for U.S. agricultural exports across Africa.
The National Museum of American Diplomacy in Washington, D.C., explores how diplomacy has shaped the United States and its relationships with the world. For those of us looking at the world through an African lens, the museum’s story is especially interesting. Its displays on global regions, international relationships, treaties, and the work of diplomats invite us to think about Africa’s own place in the history and practice of diplomacy. From independence movements to today’s global partnerships, Africa has its own rich diplomatic story — and there is much to discover when these histories meet.

It was my pleasure yesterday to attend the luncheon hosted by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in New Alamein City, Egypt, alongside General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, on the sidelines of the African Union Coordination Meeting.
In this context, we reaffirm the steadfast position of the United States in support of the Sudanese people and its support for preserving Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
We also reaffirm the United States’ continued efforts, alongside our Egyptian partners and our other regional and international partners and allies, to advance a political solution to the crisis, contribute to ending the war, and alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Sudanese people, as called for by President Trump.
These efforts aim to enable Sudan to restore its security and stability, embark on reconstruction and development, and, through an inclusive Sudanese-owned and Sudanese-led national dialogue, transition toward a civilian-led government.
The United States stands ready to support all efforts leading to a comprehensive dialogue among the Sudanese political forces, leading to a preliminary road map of the future of the Sudan. We encourage the Sudanese to be inclusive and to engage actively with regional and international stakeholders to coordinate views, harmonizing efforts toward a conducive and peaceful path to ending the war in Sudan.

Pleased to meet with @Afreximbank President @GeorgeElombi to discuss how the United States remains focused on driving private investment and mutually beneficial growth in Africa. We continue to consider African nations as capable commercial partners, not aid recipients, and our commercial diplomacy will focus on diplomatic engagement in the pursuit of commercial deals, infrastructure development, and real economic outcomes.

Assistant Secretary Garcia met with Burundian Ambassador @BoscoBarege1 to advance U.S.-Burundi cooperation on regional peace and economic partnership. They discussed the importance of the Washington Accords to bring lasting stability to the Great Lakes region. That stability will unlock new investment, particularly in critical minerals, where Burundi is a vital partner in building secure, transparent supply chains. Deepening U.S. commercial ties with Burundi will strengthen those supply chains and bring greater prosperity to both our nations. @BurundiEmbUSA
