Snape was probably the first person who made Lily feel understood in the wizarding world. He introduced her to magic, recognised her abilities and shared a friendship with her before Hogwarts.

Where the situation becomes complicated is that Snape felt betrayed by Lily’s decision to remain friends with people who hated Slytherins
Snape loving Lily for 20 years isn’t romantic. It’s creepy.
Lily was clear about where she stood, and she eventually ended their friendship. Snape’s lifelong obsession doesn’t become romantic simply because he never stopped loving her. He spent years holding on to someone who had moved on with her life, and his feelings didn’t stop him from treating her son terribly. Protecting Harry was admirable, but it doesn’t erase his cruelty or turn his obsession into some beautiful love story. Unrequited love is not automatically noble, and obsession is not devotion.

Fast forward to Seven Havens and Ellora has these legendary beasts strapped to heavy wooden cargo carts doing manual delivery duty like standard farm animals.
