They have won all three of their opening matches, scoring 10 goals in the process. More importantly, they have scored at least twice in every one of those games, beating Inter 2-1, Roma 4-3 and RB Leipzig 4-1. AEK will have the home crowd behind them, but their European performances have been far less convincing. They started with a 1-0 win over LASK, then suffered defeats against Shakhtar and Manchester City, conceding 8 goals across those two matches. Facing a Madrid side with this much quality in the final third is a completely different challenge, particularly when the visitors have players capable of creating danger from several areas of the pitch. There is another interesting angle here: Jose Mourinho's team have shown they can produce goals even away from home, scoring four against Roma in their previous European away fixture. AEK have also struggled against top level opposition, and I expect Madrid to take advantage of the difference in individual quality. I like combining the away win with over 2.5 goals because Madrid's recent European results have consistently delivered both attacking production and high scoring games. ----------------------------------------------------- Moving on to Arsenal, I think their attacking quality gives us a strong foundation for this team total. The Gunners are unbeaten in 18 consecutive Champions League matches, with 13 wins and 5 draws, and they have scored in their last 14 away games in the competition. That kind of consistency on the European stage is difficult to ignore. The previous meeting between these teams is also worth remembering. Arsenal travelled to Prague last season and came away with a convincing 3-0 victory, with Bukayo Saka scoring and Mikel Merino finding the net twice. Overall, Arsenal have faced Slavia five times without losing, recording three wins and two draws. The Czech side have also struggled against English opposition, going eight consecutive home matches without a victory against teams from England. Slavia did manage a 2-2 draw against Fenerbahçe in their previous Champions League outing, but they have taken just one point from their first three league phase matches. Arsenal, meanwhile, arrive after a valuable 1-0 win at Anfield against Liverpool and have shown that they can create chances against strong defensive units. Even with Bukayo Saka and William Saliba unavailable, Arteta still has plenty of attacking options, including Viktor Gyökeres, Martin Ødegaard and Eberechi Eze. I don't need Arsenal to win by a huge margin here.
