I love Ultraman's core message of never relying on a hero to save you, but yourself. The series makes it clear that although it's perfectly fine for you to look up to Ultraman and see him as role model, he's supposed to inspire you to stand up on your own and be your own hero.

Rewatching Ultraseven episode 42 "Nightmare on Planet No.4" and Inazuman F episode 12 "Phantom City, Despar City" as a double feature. It works well as companion pieces imo, with both being written by Shozo Uehara depicting a "world" similar to ours being ruled under dictatorship
I think this might be one reason I'm not a fan of Tiga TFO, because it retcon the key themes in Tiga TV Show.
I.e. the idea that it's humans that can make decisions for themselves in a way beings of light cannot. It's human choice that made a difference from the ancient civ.
The whole point was in the TV show, giants of light were distinct from humans, so they cannot make choice for humans. And humans not having that light, is unable to just decide on the path of their own and overcome their darkness.

Ultraman in the original show is less of a character but more of a Deus ex machina. With the key focus always been more on the human journey and story.

You see people describing themselves as "G-fans" wanting to gatekeep "tourist" out but those "G-fans" often are the ones who didn't understand the fandom history.
There is in fact, a long Godzilla fandom history before 2014. Or even before 2000.
The problem is especially hard with someone that is a Japanese franchise, since a lot of them don't engage with the history of the Japanese fandom and how that fandom in Japan shaped the franchise.
