Well… economists will argue that devaluation will make imports more expensive, reducing luxury imports and preserving forex for essential goods. They will also believe it will correct exchange rate misalignment and reduces black-market trading. But this doesn’t work in Malawi.
Suppose 100 million usd enters Malawi in October. At an official exchange rate of MK1,733 per dollar, that translates to approximately MK173.3 billion. Under forward contracts, the kwacha equivalent could be as high as MK250 billion. But actually, this money is exchanged on the black market, where the same 100 million usd fetches MK400 billion.
This raises important questions about monetary policy, liquidity and inflation. Where does the additional MK150 billion come from when foreign exchange is traded at these rates? Does this create additional money in circulation, or is existing liquidity simply changing hands? If new kwacha is created to finance these transactions, what are the implications for the money supply, inflation and the purchasing power of the kwacha?
Ultimately, how does this affect the ordinary Malawian? When more kwacha chases the same goods and services, does it put further pressure on prices and weaken the purchasing power of our salaries? How does the Reserve Bank account for these transactions, and what does this mean for its efforts to control inflation and stabilise the kwacha?
I am genuinely open to learning. I want to understand the mechanics of how these transactions affect the money in our economy and, ultimately, how far can an ordinary Malawian’s salary or whatever they earn from their hustles go?!

You can’t expect a man to lead you when you keep undermining him, and you can’t expect a woman to follow your lead when you give her no reason to trust your judgment. A man has to earn trust through how he leads, and a woman has to respect the man she chooses to build with. Both sides have a responsibility. That’s what partnership means.
The very reason most women date married men____ “no single settled man can come for me at this age, let me just be a spare wheel to this one who showed up.” It’s tough.
I recently responded to a DM from a man in the UK who apparently owns a farm in Zimbabwe. He’s married, has three beautiful young children, and wants a wife in Zimbabwe while his other family remains in the UK.
Now, here’s where things get interesting.
This man kept telling me that because I’m over 35, I should be serious about him. According to him, I should consider what he’s offering because time is moving, and I need someone to marry me.
Apparently, he’s willing to propose, help me start a business, and provide for me. And I’m supposed to be grateful because, at my age, a man is actually willing to choose me.

A friend of mine bought 2 HIV self test kits, both of them came out positive, and he went crazy, he did the test on Sunday and Monday morning he went to the clinic to get tested again and it was negative. I told him that he should not rely on clinic results. 1/2
If a man receives this justice for sleeping with a married woman, so should a woman receive the same for sleeping with a married man. Fairness.

Some divorced women found peace. Others found a new mission: convincing every married woman that marriage is a prison. Be careful who you take advice from. Misery loves company, and not everyone giving you advice wants to see you win.

We’ve created a dating culture where men fear being used, women fear being settled for, and both sides enter relationships preparing for disappointment. Everybody wants genuine love, but nobody wants to be the fool who trusted the wrong person.
Comments from her gender don’t buy her ideas. In other words, women don’t want to be submissive to their men.
Avoid getting into a serious relationship with a woman you cannot lead, teach, or correct. Love and attraction are not enough to sustain a marriage. You need a woman who can listen without feeling inferior, accept correction without feeling attacked, and disagree without turning everything into a competition.

Funny how women want you more when you’re not even that interested in them. 🙂😂 The less you chase, the more they chase you. 🤷♂️

If divorce didn’t involve sharing the man’s property, women would have fought harder to make their marriages work.
