As a dual citizen of the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo Nation and the U.S., today I’m reminded of our resistance and our resilience, and that the fight against colonialism is not done.
We have survived even in the face of genocide, displacement, and assimilationist policies meant to erase our cultures, languages, and histories. For generations, the federal government has ignored its treaties and obligations, threatened our sacred sites, and polluted our water and ancestral homelands.
But we’re still here — over 180,000 Native Americans call New York City home. We honor Lenapehoking, the homeland of the Lenape people, and the people of many Native Nations from across North America who live here today.
With courage and persistence we continue our fight: for justice for missing and murdered Indigenous women and Two-Spirit people, for housing and a livable planet, for our land back, for the sovereignty Indian Country deserves.
And we carry that struggle across the world: for Puerto Rican self-determination, for a free Palestine, for land defenders in the Amazon, and for the freedom of Indigenous and working class people everywhere.
But today we celebrate: not only our fight, but our culture and our crafts, our languages and our land, our ancestors and our elders. Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

⭕️ Israeli reservist tells Der Spiegel his unit killed Palestinians who approached hidden positions, then logged them as terrorists
The soldier, who spent about 250 days in Gaza, described a procedure his unit often used called “Alman Kasch,” in which troops take up concealed positions in areas that have not been evacuated and open fire on anyone who comes near.
“If Palestinians, who do not know that our soldiers are there, approach, they are shelled. Usually other people come along who want to help, they are also shot at. Within a few minutes, five, six or seven people are killed. The protocol says: seven terrorists eliminated. But no, it’s just seven people who crossed an intersection. Important: We do not kill, we eliminate. That’s how we’ve always phrased it.”
He said his brigade killed 160 to 170 people during more than 80 days in the Netzarim corridor, where “there were no fighting, no attacks by Hamas.”
“Only one man was suspected to carry a gun. No one saw the gun, it was night, and he had something with him that could have been interpreted as a weapon. He was killed about 500 meters north of the corridor, so he was not a direct danger, and we never examined his body. But not only him, but all these dead were reported as terrorists.”
The soldier is one of ten who gave testimony to Der Spiegel.
This isn’t a random person, it’s a high-ranking Israeli official saying they “need to wipe out Gaza.”
It should be headline news.

In 2014, Yosef Ben David, an Israeli Jew, kidnapped a 16-year-old Palestinian boy and forced him to drink gasoline.
An autopsy found soot in the boy’s lungs, indicating that he was still breathing when he was burned alive. Approximately 90% of his body suffered severe burns.
Glad to see @60Minutes reporting on this rn. When I was there in the West Bank a few days ago, the Hilltop Youth showed up in every village we traveled to. The intimidation, harassment, and violence from these invaders are rampant & funded by the government. They must be stopped.
60 Minutes’ Lesley Stahl joins a Palestinian family as they try to reach their home in the West Bank. Young Israeli settlers known as Hilltop Youth run down the hill and physically block the family from entering.
Editor's note: In compliance with Israeli law, 60 Minutes is obscuring the faces of underage participants in these actions. cbsn.ws/4yQ6ZQw

This morning ICE agents raided @IlhanMN’s home, three weeks before she’s on the ballot. This is an escalation of a decade of Trump targeting Congresswoman Omar. ICE is no longer pretending to be about immigration. It’s an arm of fascism, now being used against elected officials to silence political dissent against Donald Trump. It cannot be reformed. We must Abolish ICE before American democracy becomes a relic of the past. I stand with Ilhan.

Oligarchy, when challenged, rapidly deteriorates into fascism.
It is terrifying but not surprising to see this administration repress courageous dissenters like @Ilhan, and send a message to every citizen who may share her conscience.
I stand today & always with @Ilhan.
BREAKING: Rep. Ilhan Omar's Washington, D.C.-area residence was searched early Monday, the Department of Justice said, as part of a criminal investigation.
Sources tell ABC News that the investigation relates to Omar’s immigration paperwork.

I published a piece in The New Yorker last week about the devastating conditions facing children and schools in Gaza, and I received barely any invitations to discuss it on air.
Some mainstream media outlets covered the return to school in Gaza last month, but where has the sustained attention been since? They treated it like a once-a-year event. Palestinian children continue to be shot at and terrorized as they try to learn in tents exposed to Israeli fire, with winter rains threatening to flood the makeshift classrooms they call schools.
Since when has legacy media had so little interest in the lives of Palestinian children?
Every TV host and producer needs to answer for that.
And don’t you dare tell me your programs are focused on domestic issues, like the midterm elections. Gaza and Palestine are domestic issues, too. The U.S. government is directly implicated in the suffering of Palestinians. Its weapons and political support enable Israel to continue slaughtering families, destroying homes, and burning farms. You cannot claim to cover American affairs while ignoring the consequences of your own government’s actions.

This is a disgusting abuse of power from an out of control president, who has been obsessed with attacking Ilhan Omar and the entire Somali American population for years. To use federal law enforcement resources to raid the home of a sitting Member of Congress weeks before an election is a dangerous sign of an authoritarian president who will stop at nothing to distract you from his deep unpopularity with the American people. We stand with Ilhan. You come for one of us, you come for all us.
