Some thoughts on the mess at Manchester United, including the crisis of leadership throughout. The only blameless people are the fans. #MUFC

Mad to think a few years ago we were starting Amrabat at LB and sometimes Lindelof at fullback because Shaw/ Malacia were injured and didn't sign a LB. Now 3 years later we are doing the same.
This club never learns.

How long is the stench of the “sham” going to corrode the meaning, worth, and very essence of the Premier League?
Listening to commentary about Manchester City’s players matching the defiance of their ownership and triumphing in adversity.
Listening to fans chorusing the names of the men running the club, wearing masks or displaying banners of their faces and jibing: “We’re Man City, we’ll cheat when we want.”
Victory being framed as “a lovely moment,” a show of togetherness as though some grave injustice has been imposed on City, rather than their hierarchy being found by an independent commission to have orchestrated financial doping on an industrial scale.
Their opponents and the rest of us wondering if any of this actually matters now and how much of it ever did?
There can be no business as usual pretence. We need a full stop to the absurdity.

No troll here. Today we just appreciate Messi’s 126th and final goal for Argentina.

Man City's defence that "the £830m came from Abu Dhabi, not Etihad" could fall apart, per Kaveh.
His three reasons:
1. They already argued this at the original hearing, and the tribunal said it was concocted after the breaches.
2. In 2015, Etihad told three US government departments it paid for the City sponsorship from its own liquidity, not the Abu Dhabi government.
3. At CAS, City argued the opposite when fighting their Champions League ban.
You can't win by contradicting your own past defences. Can they?
Kaveh details 3 reasons why Man City's appeal that the £830m came from Abu Dhabi and not the Etihad could fail:
The first one is that they put that argument forward at the original hearing almost two years ago, and we know that it hasn't been accepted by the tribunal because the tribunal said that we believe that argument was concocted after the rule breaches.
The second reason is because is Etihad Airways back in 2015, the U.S. government was looking into the funding of airlines, and Etihad provided the U.S. Department of Commerce, Transportation, and State in May 2015 with a submission that the Abu Dhabi government paid for Etihad's sponsorship of English Premier League football club Manchester City is equally false. In 2011, Etihad and Manchester City entered into a 10-year sponsorship agreement, which included naming rights for City Stadium. Etihad funded this sponsorship from its own liquidity. So, in 2015, Etihad Airways, making it clear that they themselves paid for the sponsorship, not the Abu Dhabi government.
The third problem I think is that in the Court of Arbitration for Sport a few years ago, when City were appealing against their ban from the Champions League for two seasons, their defense that the extra funding was the extra money was funded by the Abu Dhabi government was something they argued was not the case, so they said that was not the case at CAS. So that may prove to be contentious as well if City again try to argue that the extra funds came from the Abu Dhabi government and not the owners.

Man City Group’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Jorge Chumillas, wrote in these two emails that ADUG (Man City’s owner) contributes most of Etihad’s sponsorship contract and Eithad’s direct contribution is just £8million.
So what is it Man City fans?
Are you saying that he’s wrong and a moron? Or a liar?

The fact that a 15 year old child wanting to leave man united before he's even been in a matchday squad got so much attention from sky sports, yet a club being found guilty of 114 charges gets such little airtime and criticism is nuts

For those thinking Man City will get a lenient punishment like Chelsea did, that simply won’t be the case.
The PL convinced an IC Panel that Chelsea (a) did not gain any Sporting Advantage, (b) they were no longer owned/run by the perpetrators, and (c) they were very compliant (even self-reporting).
Man City’s case is the opposite of those 3 factors.
1) They gained a monstrous sporting advantage. Hundreds upon hundreds of millions over PSR limits.
2) They are still owned / run by the people that did it.
3) They have gone to extreme lengths to avoid justice. They hid it all (only an email hack caught them - the rules could not).
They refused to comply with the investigation.
They committed perjury at CAS.
I’ll do a fuller post later tonight but the reality is the punishments will be as serious as they come.
My pinned post says it all.

Sir Alex Ferguson 2012, Brendan Rodgers '14, Jose Mourinho '18, Jurgen Klopp '19 & '22, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer '21 & Mikel Arteta '23 all finished second in the PL without systematic cheating. Then there's cup finals.
They, their players and staff deserve justice and recognition.
