Starting November 2, Utah families will have an extra layer of digital protection. Under SB 73, commercial adult websites operating in Utah must use reasonable age-verification methods to help keep explicit content away from minors. @UtahDCP #utah #onlinesafety

Don't get tricked by scare tactics this Halloween. Don't let your finances be haunted. If it sounds too good to be true, ghost it. Only deal with bone-afide professionals! Verify their license with the @SecuritiesUtah.

See an ad promising you’ll make significant money with a new "business coaching" program? 💸 Be careful, it might be a scam in disguise. Protect yourself: •Ignore guarantees of quick, easy money •Don't feel pressured • Check for complaints before investing.

A price tag should be a promise. Today, the Division of Consumer Protection joined the @UtahAG, the @FTC, and 19 states in suing Dollar General for allegedly charging customers higher prices at the register than on store shelves. Utah shoppers deserve fair, transparent pricing.

As @GovCox says, the choice between innovation and safety is a false one. In Utah, we’re doing both
New nationwide polling by the Deseret News and the University of Utah’s @hinckleyinst found that duality of notions about AI extend into the viewpoints of people across the country. Collectively, they are split down the middle when it comes to assigning a positive or negative value to the new synthetic, digital intelligence tools. But when it comes to AI regulation, a significantly more coalesced picture emerges. Poll participants were unequivocal on the question of who should be taking action when it comes to safeguards and oversight of the rapidly evolving technology. Find out what they said in the thread below.. ✏️: @DNTechHive, Deseret News 📸: Michael Dwyer, Associated Press

Scammers may use your love for animals against you. From fake pet "emergencies" to fraudulent charity requests, they use stolen images and AI to manipulate your emotions and steal your money. If you have been the victim of a scam or fraudulent activity, please contact @UtahDCP

High returns with "zero risk" don't exist. If a friend is pushing you to invest quickly before you can do your research, they're not a real friend.

Utah business owners: watch out for official-looking mailers asking for high fees to renew your business license. Private companies often send mailers mimicking government notices, charging $100+ for renewals that cost only $18 directly through the state.

Great to speak with the great Sylvie Legere, founder and chair of @thepolicycircle about the work Utah has done to protect children from the harms of social media
Autoplay. Infinite scroll. Push notifications. How do we protect children online while respecting free speech? At The Policy Circle’s recent Washington, D.C., event, @MargaretBusse explored why that question matters for social media and AI. Watch her take.

Knowing this wouldn't be me because I'd recognize scammer red flags since I follow the Utah Department of Commerce’s social media tips.

Found the perfect contractor through a friend? That’s a great start! But don’t forget to check their license. It’s the easiest way to make sure your remodel stays on track and your wallet is protected. Verify with our Division of Professional Licensing: secure.utah.gov/llv/search/i…

Nice try, Sss-scammer. The real IRS won’t demand personal info or threaten arrest over the phone. Don’t get rattled, just hang up and call the agency directly. If you have been the victim of a scam or fraudulent activity, please contact @UtahDCP

Thanks to the hard work of @utahdcp and @UtahAG, money is going back into Utahns' pockets.

#ICYMI Very proud moment Monday when we announced our new Prohuman AI Initiative pillar: Healthcare. We have been working hard on a framework for expanding healthcare access and lowering costs through utilizing AI in healthcare in safe and innovative ways through our regulatory sandbox program within our Office of AI Policy (OAIP). We are incredibly grateful for the leadership of Dr. Zachary Boyd, OAIP director and his team, along with the teams at @Intermountain and @UofUHealth led by their talented and visionary leaders Rob Allen and Dr. Bob Carter MD PhD. We are also grateful for the partnership of many experts from across the country who are part of our external advisory network and our third party evaluators. Finally, we're grateful for the support and leadership of key legislators Senator Kirk Cullimore and Rep David Shallenberger in this endeavor. #Utahleads #utahtech #healthcareAI

Another rollout of an action of @GovCox's Prohuman AI initiative, this one on the "Effective State Government" pillar. The purpose of this executive order is to: 1) Promote responsible AI use within government by utilizing Utah's Pro-Human AI Initiative principles to evaluate AI tools; 2) Designate procedures for the Department of Government Operations to lead the state in the use of AI-driven process improvements, choosing tools that adhere to Pro-Human AI principles; 3) Invest in the state workforce by providing training and upskilling opportunities that equip employees to grow alongside AI, prioritizing the development of state employees; 4) Provide a framework for agencies to improve services through the deployment of citizen-facing tools, while establishing guardrails and technical safeguards to protect state data; and 5) Establish agency responsibilities to adhere to Pro-Human AI principles, maintain transparency, complete AI literacy training, and evaluate opportunities to responsibly optimize processes using AI technology. Once again, Utah leads out in establishing a forward-thinking and balanced approach to AI in state government. Marvin Dodge @JeffersonMoss #utahleads #utahtech #stategovernment #effectivegovernment
AI is a generational opportunity to make government work better for the people we serve: faster services and less time spent navigating bureaucracy. But technology should always serve people, not the other way around. Today I signed an executive order establishing Utah’s Pro-Human approach to AI in state government. We’re embracing innovation while protecting privacy and investing in our workforce. The choice between innovation and safety is a false one. Utah will lead on both.
