The course is changing colours throughout but we're doing all we can to maintain the presentation. Leaves are falling quickly and all the autumn colours are about, many thanks to Pete Jeff's for his efforts on the blower.
We're already preparing for next year with a new fleet of machinery. This is undoubtedly the biggest investment the club has made in many years. I would like to thank all at Charlie's ag and turf for today's installation and training.
Brilliant news as our Pete has now completed his course of Radiotherapy. He would like to pass on his thanks to everyone who has been asking about him.
A massive thank you to Rob Taxi for going round and getting the mats cleaned off and brushed, they've come up like new and it's a huge win.
We've also had our lead artisan out on the slitter, we are going wall to wall throughout the course this week.
A big thank you to Gav Pye who has volunteered this morning and gave the bunkers a rate while we got another 12 tonne of sand on the greens. We managed to get out 28 tonnes yesterday assisted by Pete Jeff's on the loader.
Just a reminder that the rescheduled greens maintenance starts tomorrow morning. The greens will be double scarified, seeded, top dressed, tined and brushed
A milestone achievement today by Jack who has now completed his national diploma level 2. All that remains is for his work to be IQA assessed then it will be on to level 3. The tutors at @colegcambria have been first class for both Jack and Fin.
A massive thank you to Graham and Nigel for coming in to litter pick the course and it's boundaries. This is very much appreciated.
You'll be sad to hear that our Pete is going to be off for a few months from Monday as he is undergoing treatment. Pete is out longest serving greenkeeper and one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. There will definitely be a gap until he comes back stronger and healthier.
Fantastic demonstration of the VGR TopChanger by @CampeyTurfCare today. Many thanks to Jason and Andrew, it'll be interesting to see the performance benefits coming into winter. Initial firmness was fantastic and after a brush and roll the green was straight back in play.
A massive congratulations to Fin who has started his new role as senior greenkeeper today. Three years ago he began working here as an apprentice and has worked extremely hard and has excelled at college. It's correct that the club can provide clear pathways for our staff.
After yesterday's storm Jack is doing an almighty job getting the bunkers back in play. He's got 2 practical assessments with the college then he will have completed his NVQ level 2 in just over a year. It's a credit to him coming from Blackpool at 16 to take the opportunity.
It's looking like a fine day for JSOs Presidents Day, he's even managed to get me 7mm of rain this week.
It's another milestone in his years of service to the club, many congratulations.
Many thanks to the seniors section who have contributed to my new bowser. With summers as they are this machine will be invaluable getting water to otherwise unaccessible areas.
We're looking forward to a change in the weather tomorrow but the drone shots by John Williams shows how hard my lads have been working.
Another massive thank you to all those in the 100 club, we have purchased new yardage markers for the course. I must also thank Peter Jeff's who has used his contacts to have them made for half the price allowing us to purchase both 100 and 150.
The definition of the course is improving daily and my lads are doing a fantastic job. Many thanks to John Williams for all the cracking pictures. We've planted 350 heather plugs kindly donated by the captain on 3 areas over the course.
All the colours are coming back on the course, heathers are being planted tomorrow after the kind donation by the captain. Tree damage after the wind has been cleared. Heights of cut are coming down again.
