An important week for tokenization 🇺🇸 Senate sponsors have released updated CLARITY Act text ahead of a Sept. 15 procedural vote on whether to advance the bill. The legislation would establish a clearer U.S. framework for digital assets, defining regulatory roles and requirements for market participants. The latest revisions address: → Ethics restrictions for public officials → Civil safeguards for software developers → Safeguards on affiliate trading and conflicts → Treasury authority to address bank deposit flight into payment stablecoins For tokenization, clearer rules could give institutions a firmer basis to invest in the infrastructure, products, and services that bring financial assets onchain. Ondo supports continued progress toward a framework that protects investors, enables responsible innovation, and strengthens U.S. leadership in onchain finance.

🚨BREAKING: The bank owned by 63 central banks says stablecoins are NOT real money. The Bank for International Settlements says stablecoins are not credible for payments at scale, with its chief pushing tokenized bank deposits instead, per Reuters. He still admits stablecoins could lower US borrowing costs, while warning dollar tokens threaten other countries' control of their own money.

Not a great month for hardware wallets. Trezor disclosed a breach at its shipping provider affecting ~13.7K recent customers. ~11.7K had full name, email, phone and shipping address exposed. Trezor systems/private keys were not compromised. The leak directly links identities and physical addresses to known crypto holders, creating significant phishing, social-engineering and potential physical-security risk. Hardware wallets are often considered "more secure" than software wallets. While I still think that is "generally true" in a few specific aspects, this incident reinforces an advantage of software self-custody wallets (such as Binance Web3 Wallet & Trust Wallet), without purchasing and shipping a physical device that links a user's identity and address to crypto ownership. Not saying hardware wallets are "bad". Just different risk profiles. YZiLabs is an investor in many hardware wallets. Security, privacy and convenience comes in many different shapes. The more we can educate our communities, the better. trezor.io/blog/news/recent-c…

3 July, 2005: On this day, same-sex marriage became legal in Spain. At the time, it was the third country in the world to allow it, after the Netherlands and Belgium. The law, championed by the Socialist government of Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, gave same-sex couples full marriage rights, including adoption and inheritance, on an equal footing with heterosexual couples. It passed despite opposition from the Catholic Church, which helped mobilise hundreds of thousands to protest, though polls at the time showed most Spaniards backed the change.
