My big-picture look at #TIFF24: Despite disruptions (some genuine, some disingenuous), TIFF felt more alive, transformative & essential than in ages. Can it carry energy forward for next two crucial editions (50th anniversary in ‘25, market launch in ‘26)? theglobeandmail.com/arts/fil…

Facadism is not great. It happens because all new development is concentrated into 5% of Toronto, while vast swaths of houses are left untouched.

Will Ferrell joins a running list of celebrities grumbling about Toronto’s traffic, claiming it took him “30 minutes to go a block” down the road. trib.al/CAdzkI9

Will Ferrell deciding to educate himself and others as well as supporting and loving Harper unconditionally when she came out to him really puts some other comedians to shame, huh.

As far as I’m concerned, The Well figured out the formula for a food hall. Mostly independent local success stories in a space designed by GPA Architects that unites both very expensive fitouts with lo-fi pop ups…but they might as well charge a $25 entrance fee.

Food hall wasn't open when I visited The Well last fall, but it seemed critical to the project's success (as with most urban-ish malls today)

I grew up a few kms from Six Nations, where this writer did. We lived on land that by treaty rights should be theirs. Most of us bigoted white ppl there didn’t know it. Land ack’s often seem hollow self-soothing to me - and to her, but she suggests how it could be a start. Read.
Who are land acknowledgements for?
