Tennessee Tech Got a Steal in Miguel Orbe Tennessee Tech has landed a commitment from 6’3” 2027 guard Miguel Orbe of Mater Lakes Academy (FL). Orbe has established himself as one of the better players in the state of Florida. As a junior at Miami Country Day, he averaged around 21 points, five rebounds and two assists per game while helping lead the program to its first state championship game. He was also named the Dade 3A-1A Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year. Orbe can shoot it at a high level and has more to his offensive game than just knocking down open threes. He moves well without the ball, relocates when defenders lose sight of him and consistently finds open space on the perimeter. He is comfortable shooting off the catch, but he can also put the ball on the floor when defenders close out hard. Orbe can create separation off the dribble, get downhill and finish around the rim. He plays with good pace, stays under control and has shown that he can put together big scoring performances without forcing the action. There is also value in what Orbe brings defensively. He competes on that end of the floor, and at 6’3”, he has the size and length to bother opposing guards at the point of attack. He stays active around the ball, gets into passing lanes and can turn turnovers into opportunities going the other way. Tobin Anderson has been making quality moves since taking over at Tennessee Tech, and adding Orbe is another one. The Golden Eagles are getting one of the better guards in Florida’s 2027 class as they build for the future in the Southern Conference. @Showtimeemiguel @TTU_Basketball @soh_elite @MLA_BasketbaII

2027 Miami Country Day guard Miguel Orbe (6'3") has taken a significant step forward this season. The junior has improved markedly in efficiency and decision-making, which was on full display at HoopFeast in Wesley Chapel. In his first three games, Orbe is averaging 35 points per contest, including 35 points against Bell Creek (6-of-10 from three) and 44 points versus Parrish Community (8-of-14 from deep). What sets Orbe apart is his off-ball movement and shot creation. He consistently relocated and found open spaces on the perimeter, knocking down shots in rhythm without forcing the action. Beyond catch-and-shoot opportunities, Orbe demonstrated a polished ability to create his own shot off the dribble and finish at the rim, picking his spots well and scoring efficiently within the flow of the offense. On the defensive end, his length allows him to stay in front of ball-handlers, disrupt passing lanes, and make it difficult for opponents to create separation. His combination of shooting, off-ball awareness, shot creation, finishing ability, and defensive presence makes him a complete guard capable of impacting the game in multiple ways. HoopFeast showcased not only his scoring prowess but also his ability to dictate tempo and create opportunities for himself and others, signaling continued growth as he moves toward the next level. @Showtimeemiguel @MCDSBasketball @soh_elite @IssaBucketPro @hoop_feast
