It takes 400 repetitions to create a new synapse in the brain. Through play, it only takes 10 - 20 repetitions.
Our brains are wired for play: Fosters imagination, creativity & collaboration. Brings joys & wonders. Encourages risk taking.

Even small gestures of affection can have a big impact on our well-being.
When a girl faces stress, if her mom touches her hand, she sweats less. If they have a close relationship, the mere presence of her mom is enough to alleviate anxiety.
Love is a source of strength.

Today, I am excited to announce our Family Opportunity Agenda. We are going to be relentless in our drive to make our city more affordable for families in San Francisco.
Starting this month, a family of four making less than $230,000 a year will qualify for free child care at hundreds of high quality providers across the city.
And by this fall, those earning up to $310,000 a year will receive a 50% subsidy.
Our plan also expands opportunities for our students.
In partnership with SFUSD, we’re launching a new pilot that allows high school students to earn associate degrees or industry certifications at City College—with a guaranteed transfer to SF State University. This will help them become nurses, police officers, Pre-K teachers, auto technicians, chefs, and more.
We’re committed to making San Francisco a place where families can stay, grow, and build their future. This is just the beginning. Let’s go, San Francisco.
