See the problem with them is that they creating a dependence.
We wonโt be able to compute anything because we donโt have the hardware, so we outsource it to AI which is a subscription.
So even if I โonly use 5%,โ when I need to use anything more than that, there will be a fee

โa lot of people want local inference, and somehow they assume that the problem is solved now because we have open-source models, we're going to be able to run them on our computers, and so we're not going to need all the stuff in the data centre
but from a global allocation perspective, actually it's quite terrible to have everybody, like, have a bunch of the world's limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer and being used five percent of the time
you want maximum utilisation in the cloud if you're trying to deal with this very supply-constrained environment
somehow many people's intuition is the opposite of thatโ
I donโt understand the rhetoric, โugh they made it like an iPadโ or โother laptops had thisโ

You don't hate PlayStation enough.
Jailbroken PS5 console managed to make PlayStation 2 games run on PS5 from disc, without even importing digital files๐
This means Sony were deliberately keeping players from running their games that can work just fine, just so they can sell the games again on PS Store / PS+
Modders are also working on making PS3 games run from disc on PS5, also after Sony telling us itโs โhardโ to do so, due to โdifferent infrastructureโ
And now you see how far Sonyโs greed has gotten. XBOX could always run games from all past generations, full backwards compatibility, yet Sony somehow pretended it was hard, and they once pretended to be shocked as to โwhy would anyone wanna play old gamesโ?
And there you have it, itโs greed. The same reason they wanna convince you discs are a niche market and donโt sell when data proved them wrong๐ฟ

The PS5 got jailbroken and within less than a week people got PS2/PS3 physical discs working on PS5. Years of them lying to us about how impossible it would be, debunked in less than a week.
