DCP West Cornwall Specials

Hi all. We will shortly be closing this account down. Don’t worry, you can stay up to date with us by following @DC_PoliceWestC for all our operational activity or @DC_PoliceCitPol for all things volunteering. We’re also on Facebook facebook.com/share/17tZPHDk4…. See you there 👮🚔

A super busy week for our team! Monday - proactive patrols in the Truro area = arrest for drug driving! Wednesday - support for late night shopping. ASB logs attended & some community engagement Friday - Ebike operation in Falmouth! 2 illegal bikes seized & riders educated

On Tuesday two of our officers were carrying out a proactive shift focussing on uninsured drivers as part of #opdriveinsured25. Two vehicles were seized for no insurance. One of the drivers also blew 108 on a roadside breath test - 3 x over the legal limit!! @DriveInsured

We were honoured to lay wreaths on behalf of Devon & Cornwall police at remembrance parades in West Cornwall today. We will remember them.

Last night our Specials Support Group were literally lifesavers! Spotting an inflatable kayak entering the water the user was drifting out to sea fast! Great partnership working with @RNLI and @HMCoastguard meant the user was safely returned to the harbour unharmed. 💙

1️⃣ of 3️⃣ vehicles our team seized today for being driven without insurance! Unfortunately for one of the vehicle owners they allowed the driver to drive knowing insurance was not in place! We’ll be looking to prosecute them with a permit no insurance offence! #checkyourcover

We had a brilliant weekend last weekend supporting @TruroPol with #tunesinthedunes on Perranporth beach. Lots of public engagement, lots of chatting and lots of pictures with party goers! And to top it off, a proactive arrest for drug driving & driving without insurance!

Entering a pedestrian zone, in a car whilst we’re enforcing isn’t a great idea, but doing it with no insurance is definitely not advised! Driver only had license since September! 6 points & £300 fine heading their way and license likely to be revoked!

If you’re 17 years old, hold a provisional driving license, driving a car dangerously with no insurance and major MOT fails - we’d strongly recommend you don’t heavily accelerate and drive with excessive speed with a police car behind you! 🤦‍♂️ Vehicle seized. Driver reported! 🚘

On Saturday our team carried out a joint operation with our speed detection colleagues in Truro and Falmouth stopping drivers at the road to carry out basic vehicle checks after detected speeding. Unfortunately, some drivers will be getting more than just points for speeding!

S/Insp Dave is at it again…. That’s another uninsured driver off the roads! Vehicle seized. Points and fine for the driver. Huge thanks to @DriveInsured for their support with this one this morning! 🚗 lesson for this driver: if the insurance co ask for documents provide them

Another fugitive management shift for us last night where we proactively look for those people who are wanted by the courts! 🔵1 male arrested-failing to appear at court for drink drive offences. Court for him today after a night in the cells 🔵4 other enquiries completed

This driver made it all the way from Eastbourne to Truro without insurance or a driving license and even managed a few days around Cornwall before the eagle eyes of SC T/Insp Christophers and SC Mylam spotted him! Vehicle seized. Driver reported to court!

We’ve got opportunities to join us in: 🔵Penzance @PenzancePolice 🔵Camborne @CambornePolice 🔵Falmouth & Helston @FalmouthPolice 🔵Truro @TruroPol Give us a shout if you have any questions and want to find out more!
