I wanted to begin my mandate by recognizing the thousands of colleagues who show up with extraordinary dedication, courage and compassion to serve those in need.

More than 100 million people rely on @WFP for assistance. As Executive Director, I’m determined to keep that mission at the heart of everything we do.

Since operations began, WFP-managed UNHAS has:
🔵 Operated 1,255 flights
🔵 Transported 10,200+ passengers
🔵 Delivered 483 metric tons of critical cargo

🚨 Nearly 3.5 million people in Ebola-affected areas of #DRC face Crisis-level hunger or worse.
Conflict and displacement have already stretched families to the limit.
WFP is providing food and nutrition assistance so patients and families can remain in treatment or isolation while meeting their basic needs.

Good news from #Gaza: children are back in learning spaces, with fresh fruit to keep them healthy and focused. Seeing them was the highlight of my visit.
But with the lack of commercial access over the past week, this progress is under threat. We mustn’t lose it.
Now is not the time for support and attention to drop.
It is the time to step up, protect the gains made in Gaza, sustain the programs that have helped push back famine, and help families rebuild their lives.
There is no right answer to whose food assistance gets cut when nearly an entire population depends on it.
I spoke to @BBCWorld about the impossible choices being made in Gaza and the international support needed now.
Now is not the time to look away from Gaza. It is time to step up, sustain this support, protect the progress made, and push for early recovery.
