I’ve been at this for 33yrs, seen much in my days. One of THE most impressionable periods was 2003-2006. All the strategists, economists, sell/side energy analysts all proclaimed WTI could not stay over $30 bc it would cause a global recession/depression. In 2006, peaked at $75, on the grind down to $50, bears all came out of the closet and proclaimed victory, oil was headed back to $15-$20. We bounced off $50 on way to $148 in 2008. Zoom to 2026, I think most are surprised how well the economy has held up despite WTI spending most of the year over $75 WTI. Too many crybaby’s whine about high gasoline prices while sipping their $10 Starbucks crapachino and eating $30 Cava protein bowls. At some price point, we see demand destruction but maybe that number a lot higher than most think.

🇮🇷🇺🇸 Iran spent 30 years digging missile cities under its mountains, and that's why seven months of bombing never ended this war By late March, after a month of round-the-clock strikes, five people familiar with US intelligence told Reuters that Washington could confirm destroying only about a third of Iran's missiles. Another third was buried and unknowable. The rest sat untouched. Residents in Kermanshah told the Irish Times that missiles flew from the same mountains within hours of a strike, because a collapsed tunnel mouth gets dug out in a day and the weapons behind it were never hit. By June, US estimates had Iran keeping around 70% of its launchers and stockpile. Now Israel is warning that Pickaxe Mountain, the enrichment site Iran carved deeper than any bunker buster reaches, is coming online too. That's the whole war in one engineering fact: American bombs can shut a door, they can't reach what's behind it. Seven months bought time. The arsenal is waiting for a ceasefire to come out. You’re Secretary of the… Treasury … right?
Iran has a new oil minister. Considering Iran has not loaded a single barrel of crude onto a vessel since August 25th, what is the oil minister managing?

The US is putting another 40M barrels of crude into play from the SPR, while Europe also prepares fuel reserve releases, more evidence that Hormuz has indeed normalized back to pre war flows.

If you didn’t get morning wood after seeing oil prices this morning you may want to see a doctor for ED. As for me, I will be seeing a doctor for an erection lasting more than 4hrs.

I just watched a short documentary, a report, really, about the price increase of Uber over time. Nearly all of the price increases over time have gone into the pocket of the “companies” which provide the commercial insurance to Uber drivers. By “companies” I mean company. The company’s name is Aleka Insurance Inc. It’s located in Hawaii. Aleka’s management team is ex Uber leadership. Its books are closed because it’s a wholly owned subsidiary of Uber. 40%+ of most Uber fares consist of commercial insurance charges. It allows Uber to publicly state that “Uber” takes less than 20% of the total fare costs, while in reality over 50% of the fare costs are going to Uber+Aleka. Wild stuff.

Good morning, please keep your seatbelt on, your tray table up, and your seat in the upright position, as we’re expecting to experience some predictable, yet unnecessary turbulence this week.
