The red-winged blackbirds seemed to crane their necks on the wire, listening to @ArethaFranklin. They’ve also gotten way more aggressive as I’ve moved west. Hadn’t heard that whirring sound in the video before. #blackinnature (looks like I need to tighten my chinstrap too!)

From young, I fostered a deep and abiding love for the natural world. Exploring landscapes; appreciating the beauty of all life through my parents. Now, I research how #rewilding our land with keystone species can help wildlife to thrive #BlackInNature #BlackandSTEM #beavers

I LOVE Turkey Vultures. I once read that Turkey Vultures are communal foragers- if they find a food source that is more than their roost can consume they will find other roosts to share the wealth. No leftovers! #BlackBirdersWeek #BlacksInNature #PostABird

Yellow-rumped warblers (aka "butter-butts") have begun trickling into Wisconsin, and will only become easier to find over the next few weeks. Like crocuses and salamanders, they're sure sign that spring is on the way! Photo: Ryan Schain/via @MacaulayLibrary

For #migration Monday - here is an animation of the first year of 6 fledgling #SwainsonsHawks. You can see mortality is high in the first year for young birds, but it provides a hint of where our California population spends its first summer #RaptorResearch #ornithology
