This is the key point from Mamdani. Yeah, sure, obsess over swings and under and over performance all day long if that’s your thing. But once Dems have won, narrowly or not, what do those Dems do with actual power? Not just to improve people’s lives but also to *stay* in power?
Zohran Mamdani: “It’s not enough for us as Democrats to win power. We have to use that power to deliver change that Americans can feel in their wallets. When you look at these campaigns, if we want to speak about James Talarico, he campaigned on a vision for universal childcare. If you want to talk about Keisha Lance Bottoms, she campaigned on a vision of cutting red tape to build housing. If you want to talk about Jocelyn Benson, she campaigned on a moratorium for data centers. What I’m excited to see now is a recognition that the work is only just starting and this has to be delivered for working people across the country”

Who funds you runs you. If the Dems don't replace Jeffries and Schumer as leaders, cancel the celebration.
NEW: Meet incoming speaker Hakeem Jeffries’ donors: Anduril and Palantir executives, Wall Street investors, crypto lobbyists, and donors funneling contributions through AIPAC. We followed the money behind Hakeem Jeffries. readsludge.com/2026/11/04/th…

You can't post like it's someone else's war. You started it, You can end it. Stop tweeting and crying, start acting." Brutally Cooked 👏

You don't only get what you vote for, you get what you organise for. Ask yourself, what if anything if you organise for or did you just think your vote would magically become part of a larger collective impact.

Bernie Sanders: We must enact a 5% wealth tax on billionaires so that we can provide every working-class family in the country, a family of four, with a $12,000 direct payment. In other words, if you're a working-class family of four, that's $3,000 for every man, woman, and child. Twelve thousand bucks. Furthermore, with that tax on billionaires, we can build 7 million units of low-income and affordable housing, we can make public colleges and universities tuition-free, and we can provide universal free child care for 13 million children. That is what a wealth tax on billionaires can do.

The answer is overwhelmingly no. Schumer is very unpopular nationally. But establishment Dems don’t care. They will get in a room and make deals and keep this AIPAC whore named Schumer in leadership, killing the momentum. That’s how you give power right back in 2028. Don’t do it.

I love the reality, clarity, and sobriety of election results. In the end, it's the cold hard numbers that we must live with. Social media, our echo chambers, political 'analysis', and media polls, all disappear into the bright light of the IEC score board #LGE2026

Arrogance. Too many of you in politics carry it on your chest. It's actually nauseating.

This company man. This sellout. This AIPAC ASSHOLE. People didn’t vote Democrats into power because of Chuck Schumer. He’s absolutely loathed nationally. Booker knows this. But he doesn’t care. @CoryBooker

Ugh 🥹♥️🇿🇦 I'm deeply proud of South Africa today. Our democracy has matured, and remains relatively stable having moving beyond a single-party liberation democracy into an era of multi-party democratic contestation. Many African countries failed to make that transition. Many said we wouldn’t. To the future and beyond. We've got this. We really have. 🇿🇦 Let them talk us down. Let them say disaster awaits. Let them count us out. We know who we are and what we can do, and we will again and again. I breathe a little easier this evening. Thank you all.

I have a question and comment: What informed @MYANC’s decision to campaign without naming its mayoral candidates? Strategy must be built on evidence and insights. People respond to people. They want to know who is asking for their trust, what that person intends to do and why they should believe them. A credible candidate, connecting directly with communities, can give voters a reason to imagine something better even where the party’s record offers little encouragement. Why, then, place the full burden of incumbency at the centre of the campaign? Why ask voters to look past years of disappointing delivery without offering an identifiable leader willing to account for those failures and make a persuasive case for doing things differently? A strong candidate cannot erase a party’s record. But they can offer voters a concrete proposition: judge my abilities, interrogate my plans and hold me to my promises. What evidence suggested that withholding that candidate would be more persuasive? Does anyone know what research and evidence the ANC surfaced to craft this strategy? There is also a question of accountability. Yes voters elect councils rather than mayors directly. But knowing whom a party intends to put forward helps them make an informed choice. Campaigning without that disclosure asks voters to endorse the party first and discover its choice of leader afterwards. Why should voters give the ANC that much discretion when its record is precisely what needs defending?

I live in EThekwini. Who do I blame for service delivery failures in my neighbourhood? • Ward councillor is DA • Mayor is ANC • Deputy mayor is NFP • Premier is IFP Successes are quickly owned, but failures are deflected. Voting is an extreme sport. #LGE2026 🗳

Yes, I meant that we need the IEC to work hard at voter education and the government needs to put money at the IEC’s disposal for that.
