FROM ROADS TO CLEAN TRANSPORT, FROM WOMEN’S ENTERPRISE TO ECONOMIC INCLUSION: KATSINA’S DEVELOPMENT AGENDA IN ACTION Vice-President Kashim Shettima’s one-day official visit to Katsina on 4 October 2026 brought together major projects and programmes of the Radda administration across urban infrastructure, modern transportation and economic inclusion. Accompanied by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, the Vice-President commissioned road projects, launched cleaner mass-transit vehicles and flagged off a major women’s economic empowerment programme. Key Projects and Programmes * 4.80km Kofar Sauri–Central Mosque Roundabout Road — dualised and commissioned. * 2.40km Central Police Station Junction–Kofar Kaura Underpass Road — dualised and commissioned. * 4.00km Filin Polo–Ring Road — newly constructed and commissioned. * 11.2km total urban roads commissioned during the visit. * 30 CNG hybrid buses launched to strengthen mass transportation. * 200 Phase I electric tricycles launched as part of the state’s cleaner mobility programme. * Community Investment Fund (CIF) under the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up officially flagged off. * 40,000+ women are expected to receive business capital after meeting the programme’s eligibility requirements. * The women’s programme has expanded from an initial 6 LGAs to all 34 LGAs, supported by Katsina’s stated $1-for-$1 matching commitment. * Women Affinity Groups in the state have reportedly mobilised over ₦310 million in savings, while the programme also includes groups established by women with hearing impairment. The visit therefore connected physical infrastructure with household economic opportunity: 11.2 kilometres of roads, 30 CNG hybrid buses, 200 electric tricycles and an empowerment programme reaching more than 40,000 women across Katsina State.
