As H. L. Mencken said "For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong." Land management involves vast, multi-varient, multi-temporal systems. One stop, tabloid solutions are, to use the correct terminology, hooey. #ShowMeDontTellMe

Endless crap written about sheep, especially on this platform, but here's a lovely piece by @Wayfaringhind to balance that out... scribehound.com/lifestyle/s/…

Heard upsetting news that our lobster supplier The Tina Louise has been targeted on 28th July & sunk. Only just got over lobsters being stolen twice from their tanks & past creel damage. @PoliceScotland pls get this info out over your social media & let’s catch these criminals.

Anyone have any info on why the speed limits in Golspie and Brora changed to 20mph for a handful of days and are now back up to 30mph?

Women having to travel long distances to give birth and then being turned away is unacceptable. Neither is it acceptable to wait in a car as labour progresses. The alternative - to pay for a hotel room for labour - is not an NHS free at the point of need.
This happened to a Moray mum in recent months. Unacceptable on every level.

I never get tired of seeing photos of Roman mosaics emerging under a vineyard near Verona in Italy. The remains of a villa, believed to date to the 3rd century AD, were unearthed in a hilly area above the town of Negrar di Valpolicella. theguardian.com/world/2020/m…

“Given the business plan requires high occupancy, there will be a need to eliminate competition. Sadly, it would appear that self-catering is in the firing line as Edinburgh Council seeks to regulate the sector out of existence.”

I've learnt alot about febrile seizures today & what to do about them. As common as they seemingly are, if I never saw another infant like that again it would still be too soon. nhs.uk/conditions/febrile-se…

Wow, an extraordinary survival! A Mesolithic axe used by a hunter-gatherer some 7,000 years ago! 🤩 Red deer antler and hazel wood. The pointed end suggests it was also used for digging/foraging. From a submerged Ertebølle coastal settlement, Tybrind Vig, Denmark. #Archaeology

Obviously the source is known for hyperbole, but all this media coverage is so striking - armoured vehicles, snipers etc, for one possible lion?! And these are often the same people who think Africans should just live with lions without issues! 🤯🤯 dailymail.co.uk/news/article…

A baby 🥰 Hopefully they continue to hang out in the polytunnel and keep the slugs and bugs in check 🙏🤞 (Only handled as they were chilling out beneath a plant pot and I needed to move them somewhere safer out of the way).
