We are proud to announce our partnership with GenomOncology and Belay Diagnostics to accelerate clinical trial enrollment for CNS cancer patients. Through our partnership, users can move directly from genomic reports to the WeTrials platform to access a patient-friendly, simplified clinical trial interface aligned with a patient’s biomarker profile and pursue enrollment through a streamlined process. In this way, molecular insights lead to meaningful treatment opportunities—helping connect patients to innovative therapies and trials, while giving clinicians a seamless on-ramp to patient enrollment directly within their workflow. @Belay_Dx @genomoncology @DrAMansouri
CT first, then MRI. Why? Brain tumor imaging
CT is fast, so you often get one in the ER. MRI shows more detail without radiation, so it carries most of the follow-up. Dr. Alireza Mansouri explains.

Is a "free" trial really free?
Trial activities are usually covered. Travel often isn't, and standard care goes through insurance. Dr. Vijay Agarwal on what to ask about costs early.

Best in science. Not best for children. Pediatric trials
Pediatric cancers are rare, so a randomized trial can take over 10 years. Dr. Giselle Sholler explains how her team designs trials for children instead.

After radiation ends, who notices the changes?
Once treatment visits slow down, families are often the first to notice changes. Dr. Laurie Minns on what GBM caregivers said they needed.

When a brain tumor diagnosis makes everything feel urgent at once, try taking things one step at a time.
In the latest Caregiver Chronicles, Janet Fanaki shares why neurosurgeon Dr. Carlos Velasquez Rodriguez tells families to face each stage as it comes, instead of all at once.

Ask your doctor this before your next scan
One question to ask your doctor before your next scan: is there a biomarker-driven trial for me? Dr. Alireza Mansouri explains why.

Asked to pay for an experimental treatment?
Dr. Nader Sanai's general rule of thumb for brain tumor patients: if you have to pay for an experimental therapy, that's a red flag.

We previously reviewed the rule of fractionated radio surgery for post-operative cavity. We stated that the optimal number of fractions are yet to be determined. The new alliance phase 3 trial advances our knowledge re 3-5 fractions:
1-year surgical-bed control: 87% with fractionated vs 81% with single-fraction (p ≈ 0.046).
Median OS (secondary endpoint): 29 vs 20 months (HR ~0.66–0.69), favoring fractionated.
No significant increase in toxicity/radiation necrosis.
Presenters (including Ayal Aizer) have described postoperative fractionated SRS as the new standard of care for larger cavities.

Why do kids with cancer still get 50-year-old drugs?
Some chemotherapy given to kids with cancer is 50 years old. Dr. Giselle Sholler explains why clinical trials are how newer drugs reach children.

International Brain Tumor Awareness Week starts today. In 2024, an estimated 324,095 people worldwide were diagnosed with a malignant brain or CNS cancer. If your family is facing one, find trials, guides and support: wetrials.com/brain-cancer #BrainTumorAwarenessWeek
Just told "glioblastoma"? Send them this.
In most cases there's time to get a second opinion after a glioblastoma diagnosis. Dr. Alireza Mansouri explains what it can confirm and how to ask for one.

A natural bacterial consortium (AUN: P. mirabilis + R. palustris) drove complete remissions in mouse models of solid tumors by triggering selective intratumoral thrombosis and necrosis.
It worked in both immunocompetent and immunocompromised hosts, including human xenografts, without relying on immune cell infiltration.
The bacteria colonize the tumor, form biofilms, induce local fibrin/platelet aggregation, collapse the vasculature, and exert direct oncolytic effects. Ratio is self-stabilizing and no genetic engineering was used.
All of this is mouse data. Live bacteria carry real risk of systemic infection or sepsis if they escape the tumor or dosing is off. The wrong ratio or excessive single doses were lethal in the reported experiments. No human data.
Worth testing in more accessible, localized solid tumors such as colon, where regional or intratumoral delivery might limit systemic exposure?

SurVaxM missed the primary OS endpoint in the full newly diagnosed GBM cohort.
Phase 2b placebo-controlled, n=233 after Stupp. 22.8 vs 20.3 months (HR 0.75, p=0.076). Prespecified ≤65 group did separate (24.2 vs 20.2 months, HR 0.64, p=0.019). Analysis adjusted for MGMT and KPS only—no EOR shown. Need the paper.

FDA cleared Phase 2 for MT027, an allogeneic B7-H3-targeted CAR-T, in brain metastases from lung and breast cancer. This is the second Phase 2 clearance for the same product after recurrent glioblastoma. Delivery is local intracranial; the supporting WCLC data remain very small (responses in 2 of 3 evaluable).
