Gasoline prices have little to do with Iran. Russia/ukraine + Biden regulations and incentives causing refineries to shutdown in the US in favor of biofuel are the bigger problems. If the Hormuz were to fully open tomorrow gas prices would barely drop because more oil doesn’t make refineries that are operating at 100% capacity turn oil into gas any faster. We need more refinement capacity, we need China to start exporting diesel again, we need drayage terminal and fulfillment center trucks running on natural gas. Read my post on crack spreads. Educate yourself. The real bottleneck is refineries not oil.

Gas is high because we are trying to keep a regime that chants “Death to America” from getting the bomb. Let them have one and they don’t have to sneak mines into Hormuz anymore. They can just threaten to vaporize Tel Aviv or Riyadh if anyone tries to reopen it. Then it’s $8–10 a gallon every time they have a bad day, plus the ability to kill hundreds of thousands in an afternoon. That’s not cheaper gas, that’s trading a few extra bucks at the pump for mass death.
