In my early days in Web3, I used to wonder what actually happens to my crypto whenever I convert it to fiat.
- Where does it go?
- Does it leave the blockchain?
I’d ask AI, and it’ll would be like “In a decentralized world, money….. blah blah blah.”
So I decided to research it myself.
That’s when I began to understand something.
Crypto isn’t a file that disappears when you sell it. the blockchain records transactions and changes in ownership, while the way that change happens depends on the platform (like @MEXC ).
Sometimes it’s an onchain transaction; other times, it’s recorded internally by an exchange.
and the Bitcoin whitepaper made a little more sense to me.
Its explanation of transactions, digital signatures and the chain of ownership showed me that there’s kinda a lot more to digital money than just sending and receiving. there’s an entire system designed to establish who owns what.
If I could add Page 10 to the Bitcoin Whitepaper, it would ▼

I have been around here for a while, but I realized I’ve never really introduced myself properly and I think this is the right time to do that.
I am Prof Ray.
I work around Web3 as a social media manager, content creator and community guy. I also write and research about protocols and break down complex things in a way that makes them easier to understand.
