This monorail is completely driverless by the way, for all those right wing weapons who think we can have driverless trains running at 125mph on our Victorian built railway 👍
Hope everybody is ok in this incident but that train did not react to the danger in front of it
Train services across Scotland will be impacted this weekend as Storm Boelo brings strong winds and heavy rain across the country.
The storm is expected to affect large parts of Scotland from today, Saturday, 24 October, through to Sunday, 25 October, with wind gusts of more than 60mph widely forecast and potentially reaching 80mph in some areas.
With heavy rainfall also expected, Network Rail has confirmed that a number of routes will close as a precaution, while speed restrictions will be introduced across much of Scotland's Railway to keep customers and staff safe.
The following line closures are planned:
• Glasgow Central – Ayr will close between Kilwinning and Ayr from 21.00 on Saturday, 24 October. - After 2100, a ½ hourly shuttle service will operate between Glasgow Central and Kilwinning in both directions.
• Glasgow Queen Street – Oban / Mallaig will close between Fort William and Mallaig and between Crianlarich and Oban from around 22.00 on Saturday, 24 October.
• Inverness – Kyle of Lochalsh will close between Kyle of Lochalsh and Achnashellach from the start of service on Sunday, 25 October.
• Inverness – Wick / Thurso will close between Helmsdale and Wick / Thurso from the start of service on Sunday, 25 October.
Before services can resume on impacted routes, Network Rail will need to carry out safety inspections to check for flooding, fallen trees, debris, and any damage caused by the storm.
In addition to the line closures, reduced speed restrictions are expected across much of the network from late Saturday night and throughout Sunday, with the potential for restrictions to remain in place on the Far North Line between Inverness and Wick / Thurso into Monday morning.
These restrictions mean trains will operate at lower speeds than normal, resulting in longer journey times, delays, and possible cancellations.
Please check your journey before travelling, allow extra time, and consider alternative arrangements where possible.
Customers are asked to make sure they have the latest version of the ScotRail app from Google Play and Apple App Store, which was released yesterday (Friday, 23 October), so they can check their journey on the app, website, and on ScotRail’s social media channels.
Customers holding tickets for travel on Saturday, 24 October or Sunday, 25 October may travel on any service on Saturday, 24 October. Alternatively, they may use their ticket once routes reopen following the storm, including on Monday, 26 October.
"we don't need HS2"
Yet the reality is that we DO NEED HS2.
The WCML is at capacity, they can't introduce more services without there being a negative impact on passengers.
Today we've rejected proposals for additional services on the West Coast Main Line after our assessment found they would likely increase delays and cancelled trains for passengers.
We've also approved one existing Avanti service to carry passengers.

ALT Stephanie Tobyn, ORR’s director of strategy, policy and reform: “New services, destinations and greater choice can bring real benefits for passengers and communities. But the West Coast Main Line is already under significant pressure, with performance reflecting limited resilience on a heavily used part of the rail network. “Our detailed analysis has shown that adding more trains to the current timetable would reduce the ability to recover when disruption occurs, increasing the risk of delays spreading and making reliability of the network worse for all passengers.”

🗓️ Next month, £3.5m of upgrades to Liverpool's underground railway network get underway.
🚧 To do this, we'll partially close Merseyrail lines to strengthen tunnels that bring trains into the city.
👻 Don't get spooked: check your journeys in advance!

There is a reason why they are "cheap"

From LinkedIn, this Jaepoo was in a crash at 47mph with a Land Rover which was the vehicle at fault. The poster on LinkedIn advises that neither of the Jaepoos front air bags went off, nor did the seat belt tensioners activate.
Apparently the Land Rover is back on the road but the Jaepoo is being investigated for the fact that the safety features didn't, well, feature.
Looking at the damage (although its difficult to tell what's damage and what's styling) I don't think the speed was 47mph. The Jaepoo was thankfully written off. More likely cos its only worth £250 before it was crashed and of course there are no parts for these piles of excrement.

"On 5 August 2026, OMODA & JAECOO UK LTD issued safety recall TUB-2608.039.01 / AC/002332, concerning an incorrectly routed driver's seat wiring harness and potentially serious electrical faults."
For those who said it couldn't be done...
You were wrong.
On 1st September, in test runs at Litchurch Lane, 507001 operated under its own power without a third rail, thanks to batteries fitted on board.
This milestone development paves the way for potential operation on heritage railways.

We’re investigating gov.uk/government/news/derai… after the rearmost vehicle of a passenger train derailed near Wickford, Essex, 14 August 2026.
The train remained upright throughout with no reported injuries to the 62 people estimated to be on board.

For those who say that Trainline is the best ticketing app...
And before someone inevitably comments with the "That's an unreliable source" it's also on the government website.
