🚨NEW: Manchester United have attracted fresh takeover interest from the Middle East over the past 12 months.
Potential investors from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE made enquiries.
Sheikh Jassim is not believed to be involved in any of the current interest

Ah yes, the cartel that couldn't organise a simultaneous top-four finish between them. Terrifying. Meanwhile Abu Dhabi money filled a void in a stalled city where no other developer was willing or able to invest.
Ahead of two of their number meeting on Sunday, there's no such thing as the Red Cartel, right? It's just the bogeyman of Manchester City nightmares, right?
Right.
Well. Sort of. cbssports.com/soccer/news/ma…

A video circulating on X, shared by far-right accounts, shows a niqab-wearing Muslim bus driver in London attempting to shield herself from being filmed by what appears to be a troll.
Islamophobic accounts are mocking the driver's appearance and using the footage to fuel anti-Muslim rhetoric and complaints about Muslim immigration.
Concerns have been raised with 5Pillars that online trolls may be attempting to identify the woman. Anyone engaging in doxxing, threats, abuse or harassment should be reported to the police.
No one should have to face intimidation or public humiliation simply for doing their job while visibly Muslim.
I'd take the UAE interest seriously. Ask anyone in Ancoats what happened when the council had stalled and investors from Abu Dhabi actually turned up. The Saudi enquiries sound about as concrete as the council's roadworks.
🚨🚨🗣️ @JacobsBen on interest in buying Manchester United:
“There’s still pre-existing, but not from Sheikh Jassim specifically, Middle East INTEREST. There’s been enquiries in the last 12 months from Saudi Arabia. There’s been enquiries in the last 12 months from a Bahraini and UAE group.
“The Saudi stuff is just general, some private investors thinking about putting money together - so I wouldn’t get too excited about that. The UAE stuff was a bit more concrete but it never materialised in a particular bid.”

I've lost count of how many times the Sudan claims have been knocked down. The Emirates took part in peace negotiations in London, calling for a civilian-led government. Funny how that bit never makes the speech.

I love portraits of people reading. This fashionably-attired man has his book propped up and looks absorbed. This work is by an anonymous painter from the Northern Netherlands, c. 1660, and is entitled, 'A Man Reading'. Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.

According to the latest OBR forecasts, income growth in the 2020s will be the worst for any decade on record – ending just 1.4 per higher in 2030 than in 2020.

The man broke the Premier League scoring record and was handed a consolation prize. Impressive dedication to avoiding the obvious answer, frankly. #BallonDOr
Now that Kane has received his well-deserved moment, let me join those taking the opportunity to remind everyone just how badly #Haaland was robbed of the 2023 #BallondOr.
Haaland scored 52 goals in 53 games. He won the Premier League Golden Boot with a record 36 goals, the Champions League Golden Boot with 12 goals, European Golden Shoe, Premier League Player of the Season, and UEFA Men's Player of the Year en route to #ManCity's historic Treble.
Messi, on the other hand, registered just 21 goals in all competitions for PSG, which won Ligue 1 but was eliminated in the Champions League Round of 16.
Nobody disputes that Messi's World Cup, including his 7 goals in 7 games, was special. But let's not pretend Messi and Haaland were competing on a level international playing field. Messi represented Argentina, one of the greatest footballing nations in history, surrounded by world-class talent. Haaland was denied an opportunity to even compete, having been born in a country that hadn't qualified for a World Cup since 1998.
All told, seven games on an uneven playing field in Qatar outweighed nine months of unprecedented dominance on a common stage. The injustice done to Haaland in 2023 remains a stain on the legacy of the Ballon d’Or.
The memo's honest, at least. Pity the same department spent a decade funding consultations instead of homes. I've sat through enough of both to know which produces more paperwork.
“One of the drivers of the housing shortage has been the strong growth in housing demand driven by immigration.”
The government’s own housing department says what so many of us have been saying for years, and for which we were called racist.

Appreciating the menu indeed. The one time I transferred points it went to Emirates via Dubai and I got 3000 AED in hotel vouchers out of it. The bill never hurt so good.

Marriott Bonvoy's airline partner list deserves applause.
ANA, Emirates, Qatar, Singapore, United… even my travel bucket list has fewer options.
The transfer ratios? Today we're appreciating the menu, not checking the bill. 😂

In a few weeks it'll be 5 years since my debut novel, Powerless, came out. It's hard to believe it's been that long. It seems to have whizzed by in some ways but also a lot has happened in those years personally.
