🚨Fabian Hürzeler on Brighton’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad: 🗣️ Fabian Hürzeler: “Listen, honestly, I think people need to understand our priorities as a football club. “The Carabao Cup is probably the least important competition for us. Would we like to win it? Of course. Every time we step onto a football pitch, we want to win. But is it our biggest priority? No, absolutely not. “We lost to Manchester City during the week, we were eliminated, and we accepted it. There was disappointment, naturally, because nobody enjoys losing a football match. But it didn’t change our ambitions or distract us from what we’re trying to achieve this season. “On Wednesday, I made it clear that we would come back looking for revenge. I told Manchester City and Enzo that we weren’t going to let that defeat define us. Today, we came here and delivered exactly what we promised. We exerted our vengeance on them, and I’m incredibly proud of the players. “It didn’t matter what they threw at us; we had an answer. They tried to put us under pressure, they tried to dictate the tempo, but we remained composed. We played the better football when it mattered, we competed for everything, and we found a way to get the three points. “Our priority is European football. We want Champions League football. That’s where we want Brighton to be, and that’s what we’re fighting for. We want to finish as high as possible in the Premier League, and if there’s an opportunity to challenge for the title, we’re certainly not going to turn it down. “Today was a completely different challenge. We came to the Etihad knowing exactly what Manchester City are capable of. You cannot come here expecting to dominate them for 90 minutes. You have to be organised, disciplined, brave and take your opportunities when they arrive. “I thought the players were fantastic. They followed the plan, they worked for each other, and they showed tremendous character. We defended when we needed to defend, we competed for every ball, and we never stopped believing we could get something from this game. “Manchester City are an incredible team. They can enjoy their Carabao Cup victory during the week, and congratulations to them for that. But today, the three points belong to Brighton. “And I can tell you something: we’re definitely enjoying this victory a little more than they enjoyed that cup win! “Because coming to the Etihad and beating Manchester City is a statement. It shows what this team is capable of, and it gives us even more belief in what we’re building. “We haven’t come this far just to participate in the Premier League. We have ambitions, we have targets, and we’re going to keep fighting for them. “Let everyone talk about the Carabao Cup. We’re looking at the Premier League table, and we know exactly what we’re chasing.”
